'Scene It? Twilight' dazzles Wii this autumn, DS in 2010

Oh my gawd, oh my gawd, the twinkly blood-suckers of Twilight are coming to Wii in a Scene It? game this fall! Yes, the vampire franchise -- with only one released movie under its coffin -- will be the subject of an entire multimedia-based trivia game for Wii, featuring some 500 multiple-choice questions based on clips, music and audio from the film.

There are no details about the DS version of the game, which will release sometime next year. (There's also no mention of an Xbox 360 or PS3 version.) We'd call this the "shovelware cash-in of trivia games," but we'd be afraid that in doing so, pale, starving actors covered in glitter would come and suck our blood -- accompanied by throngs of enraged tweens and housewives that would rip our lifeless bodies to shreds. So ... we'll just call it not the game for us.

Twilight MMO to stop female interest in reality, threaten human race [Update]

Update: As some of our commenters point out, the so-called Twilight Video Game appears to be a few undying fans with a thirst for more Twilight content. A MySpace image discovered by a commenter reveals the game is nothing more than a digital love letter to the series from a few college fans. Twilight MMO not confirmed, the world lives for another day.

Hold on to your coffin! A game based on the book (and now film) series Twilight is currently in development. Threatening to keep women across the world glued to their computer for eternity, details on the game are slim. According to the official Twilight: The Video Game website, the title is an MMO-style "interactive experience" with the ability to relive key moments from the books Twilight, New Moon and Midnight Sun.

What we do know is that the Twilight video game will allow players to jump into the free-roaming world as human, vampire or werewolf (why would anyone pick human?), encounter characters from the franchise, and decorate a home with collectible knickknacks and tchotchkes (à la The Sims, but with less direct sunlight). Should be interesting if you're a fan of the novels, but prepare to be hated by Harry Potter fans everywhere who are still waiting for an MMO to call their own.

The Abridged Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

We've gawked at speedruns before, but this one is unique in that it's a speedrun of a Wii game. Daniel Hart recorded himself completing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in an incredible 5 hours and 39 minutes. That beats our best time by roughly infinity.

We didn't watch the whole thing, because five and a half hours, while short for a Zelda playthrough, is long for a video. Honestly, the speed-goatherding in the first segment is entertainment enough for us. But if you're stuck in Zelda, or need some strategies, this would be a great resource since the dude knows how to play.

Nintendo's Zelda replacement policy

Have you been plagued by the Zelda: Twilight Princess sky cannon bug? We've got good news and bad news for you. The bad news is obvious: you were plagued by the sky cannon bug. The good news is that Nintendo will replace your disc, allowing you to pick right back up where the bug torpedoed your game.

If you're suffering from this bug, just send your game disc to Nintendo, along with a note containing your name, address, phone number, and the circumstances of the error, and Nintendo will ship you a replacement.

Nintendo team playing with Miis in Twilight Princess

During an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, MTV's Stephen Totilo threw out a speculative question: Had Nintendo experimented with using Miis in Zelda: Twilight Princess? Miyamoto answered that, in fact, the developers at EAD had in fact been playing with that feature! After completing the game, the team started experimenting with putting Miis into the Twilight Princess engine, just for fun.

So, working at Nintendo is so awesome that programmers continue working on their games after they've shipped for recreational purposes. That is a shining endorsement if ever there was one.

The MTV Multiplayer site is set up so that it's impossible to link directly to the story; you'll have to scroll down or search for "Nintendo's Miyamoto On One-Handed 'Mario,' Miis In 'Zelda".

President's Day surprise: Jefferson (?) in Twilight Princess

Even after the day, the spirit of President's Day (sure, why not) continues in Videoland. Zelda Dimension posted this picture of a painting found on a wall in Zelda: Twilight Princess, and it looks an awful lot like Thomas Jefferson ... or maybe George Washington? Or maybe dust? Apparently, one of the NPCs is a student of American history.

We love finding secrets in Zelda, but we don't like being confronted with a blurry texture in a Wii game. Maybe the Zelda Dimension blogger was using composite cables, and that's why the picture is blurry? Yeah, that's the ticket!

We look forward to seeing the Zelda timeline theorists chew on this one.

Zelda tops a million

Well, that was quick. Turns out, Link's latest adventure is quite the popular one as NOA's VP of Marketing, Perrin Kaplan, confirmed to IGN that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has sold more than one million copies in the Americas alone. Now, she doesn't say if this figure is exclusive to the Wii-based Twilight Princess alone, so we'll just assume this figure reflects sales of both the Wii and GameCube version.

Shocking news, we know ...

New Zelda for Wii already deep in development?

He shalt smite thee.Scientists have shown that it takes the average human a really really long time to fully complete the spectacular Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Heck, even we're not done with it yet. But our secret source (also known as Game Informer) has tipped us off that the next Zelda, built from the ground up for the Wii, might be a lot closer than we thought. The same article also brought us the possibly distressing news that Phantom Hourglass might be delayed until late 2007. Agh!

Is anyone worried that the Zelda series might not be able to top its most recent entry? It may be quite some time indeed before Twilight Princess is knocked off her throne.

[Thanks, Andres!]

The numbers are in

I love me!It's been over a week, folks, and Nintendo has issued the first of many self-congratulatory press releases concerning the Wii. Eight days after launch, the Wii has sold more than 600,000 units in North America. Furthermore, their flagship title The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has sold 454,000 copies, achieving a rather ridiculous 75.67% attach rate to the console itself. Nintendo seems to be holding fast to their claim to ship four million units worldwide by year's end, and many expect the company to deliver close to 200,000 units weekly to North American outlets. Not quite enough, though, is it?

On the eBay front, 27,000 Wii units have been sold in auction at an average price of $412.53. For comparison, only 15,000 PS3 units were sold (at an average price of $1186.39). Take that, PS3 eBay people! Well, we suppose an average profit of around $500.00 after shipping and tax isn't too bad. The Wii is still very much one of the hottest items of the holiday season, and sell-outs should be expected at least through the end of the holiday season. Good luck, Wii-goers!

Goats in and fish on! Our time with Zelda part 1

While Kyle's observations and documentation are spot-on for how we felt late last night as we slowly chipped away at the large, granite stone that is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, we feel we must talk a little bit more about what we've seen in the game. Kyle's humorous documentations were spot-on, however we must say there were plenty more and our ealry impressions, being around 4 hours into the game, are very good.

A pair of new Twilight Princess videos

A duo of delicious videos for Twilight Princess have hit You Tube and, unless you're a fan of spoilers, we suggest you do not check the videos out, which are embedded into the post after the break. We'd discuss the videos' contents, but like we said ... spoilers.

Twilight Princess Impressions [update 1]

Hot.
You've read "impressions" of Twilight Princess before, from those lucky enough to get some time with it at a Fusion Tour or at either of the previous two E3 conventions. But this close to launch time, we're starting to see impressions ... people who have had extended time (dozens of hours) with the absolute final version of the game.

The Official Nintendo Magazine forums are giving a sneak peak of their upcoming issue, detailing a player's experiences throughout the whole of the game. ***THERE ARE HEAVY SPOILERS IN THIS POST.*** Be careful. If you're not willing to ruin anything (and there's nothing major), then the gist of it is, it kicks ass in every way possible. The controls don't hinder the gameplay at all, and as expected, the game itself is an impossible masterpiece of gaming. Seriously, what did you expect?

If you'd like to read a few less spoiler-tastic impressions from the Japanese, Kotaku has posted some translated impressions from Famitsu and Game Watch. Once again, both laud the immersive control experience and just about everything else.

[For a large, wallpaper-sized version of the post picture, check it out here.]

Wii Experience videos with Twilight Princess

No matter what we do, we just cannot seem to stop these Wii Experience videos. They're like some kind of juggernaut, bowling us over again and again as they present videos of folks enjoying games on the Wii. And these latest videos of folks, folks who are not us, enjoying The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii are no exception. Our tear-soaked T-shirts prove it!

TP case + Wii box = puddles of drool

One of the posters over at the official Nintendo forums got their hands on some boxes for the Wii console and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This isn't to be considered the final box design for Twilight Princess or the final design for the Wii packaging either. Still, the above picture does it for us.

Please don't ask us what "it" is ...

Twice the Twilight Princess videos, twice the fun

Nintendo has posted a pair of videos, small in size, for some game called The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Personally, we've never heard of it and wonder how exactly one might call it a legend, given its fairly unpopular following. Regardless, it looks fun enough as it combines our two favorite things in swords and green tunics. Oh, how we love us some tunics!
