Bionic Commando Rearmed's divergent finale

***Spoiler Alert -- Final Warning***
The original Bionic Commando ended with a battle against The Albatross warship and then Master-D. IGN tells us that Rearmed's ending is going to be a little different. The Albatross is now its own level, and apparently the longest level in the game, with challenging rooms that will require shutting down a security system to battle Master-D.

Don't worry BC fans, we've been told before the original ending is still "historically accurate." Bionic Commando Rearmed will be available on August 13 -- be sure to check out videos of the new Albatross level after the break.

Voice actor job posting hints at potential Portal 2 details

A Kotaku tipster seems to have stumbled upon a casting call for "a character for a new game in the Portal series from Valve Software" on subscribers-only actors resource Breakdown Express. The posting is loaded with character details for the game's "principal antagonist," including his history, demeanor and general outlook on life. The posting even details how the character's psychology changes as the story progresses, hinting at some intriguing story possibilities for the sequel to our top game of 2007.

If you don't mind having such important details spoiled at least seven months before the game is released, follow the read link and, er, read all about it. Or, if you're a voice actor who can handle "dark comedy ... with occasional dramatic moments" starting next month, why not try out for a piece of video game immortality?

MGS4 fires a shot in the console wars

We realize that this post is going to conflict a lot of our readers. On the one hand, there's a large segment of our audience that grabs on to anything related to the console wars like a starving dog grabbing on to red meat. On the other hand, there's another group of readers that have devoted their lives in the past weeks to an extreme avoidance of anything that might even resemble a spoiler for the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4.

Readers at the intersection of these two groups are going to have to think long and hard about watching the below video, which includes a particularly clever dig at Sony's competition but also potentially spoils an inconsequential scene in MGS4 (rest assured, there are absolutely no story details revealed in the clip). This is a tough, intensely personal decision, and we wouldn't presume to judge you either way. Just look into your heart and ask yourself what feels right. The answer will come.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Final Smashes revealed

If there's one thing we learned reading through some of the comments on our mega-spoiler Smash Bros. Brawl post, it's that there are a lot of people who want Mega Man to join in the Smash Bros. series. If there's a second thing we learned, it's that people are very interested in learning the secretive "Final Smash" attacks for each of the revealed characters.

Well, we can't help with Mega Man, but thanks to the kindly folks over at GameVideos, we can help with that second problem. The epic eight-minute video below shows off every Final Smash move in sequence. Not all Final Smashes are created equal, though, so we've decided to rank them on a ten point scale based on destructive potential, how well they fit the character and all-around coolness. Don't agree with us? Take it to the comments, Jabroni.

Warning: Major spoilers contained below the break.

Super Spoiler Bros. Brawl: Major leaked roster update, videos & more

With Nintendo continuing to trickle out official information about Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it seems a few early copies have leaked into the hands of gamers in advance of the Jan. 31 Japanese release. As such, there has been an absolute flood of credible images, videos and information about the game leaking onto the 'net throughout the day today.

While none of the following information has been confirmed, we're relatively confident in the veracity of everything below (unlike before). We'll continue to update as further credible information becomes available.

WARNING: Read on only if you want significant portions of the game spoiled.

Wii Warm Up: To spoil, or not to spoil?

Everyone feels differently about video game spoilers. Some people love them and find that they only leave more to look forward to in a game, while others would prefer not to look but can't resist the vice. Then, there are also people who avoid spoilers at any cost, even for games they have no intention of ever playing.

Where do you fall on the spectrum? Perhaps you can tolerate gameplay spoilers, as long as there's no storyline involved? Or maybe any spoiler at all completely ruins a game for you?

Let us know, but out of consideration to everyone, please refrain from actually posting any spoilers in your comments.

Spoiler alert: No More Heroes for 10 minutes

The first ten minutes of the game, to be exact. So, if you're the kind of person who doesn't like to see a game before you play it, then you might want to check out some of our other stories. If such things don't bother you, then feast your eyes on the video above. We just fell in love with Travis that much more.

[Thanks, Chris!]

NiGHTS: Journey of Spoilers

It was bound to happen, but some videos from the end of NiGHTS: Journey into Dreams have found their way onto the internets. The quality of these videos is very poor, but since you can sort of make out what's going on despite the talking in the background, these videos should definitely be considered spoilers. From what we could tell, they don't show the very end of the game (although, since we haven't played it, we could be wrong), but just events near the end.

Anyway, there are SPOILER VIDEOS after the break, consider yourselves warned!

SPOILER: Unlockable revealed in Super Mario Galaxy!

A spoiler about Super Mario Galaxy invaded the internet recently. We can promise you, though, that it isn't any of these:
  • If you press the + and - buttons after exactly four hours of gameplay, you unlock the soundtrack from Tron.
  • Mario is only controllable in the first chapter. The rest of the game stars a rookie named "Raiden."
  • Defeating Bowser with an arse dive will make Miyamoto come to your house and tend to your garden.
  • If you play every day, Dr. Kawashima gets jealous and murders Mario, leading to an immediate "game over" with no continues.
  • Completing the game in under 10 minutes will let you unlock a secret chapter called "Mario: The College Years."
Now, onto the real thing. Keep in mind, this unlockable was found in the Super Mario Galaxy Official Strategy Guide, so if you ordered one of those, be careful. Some of you will find this to be a big spoiler, and others may not. It's up to you to decide if you want to continue reading!

SERIOUSLY DON'T READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU'RE SENSITIVE ABOUT SPOILERS!!!

We clear, then? Good.

Well, look who decided to show up in Super Mario Galaxy

For all you delicate types trying to avoid any spoilers or information regarding the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy, we recommend that you stay away from the internet until November 12. For the rest of you who are dying to know who makes a cameo in the game (and perhaps has a larger role?), then check out the pictures and video after the jump.

We're pretty stoked, but what are your thoughts? Happy? Indifferent? Not surprised at all?

Spoilers ahead!

Spoiler-free Phantom Hourglass tips

Not everyone has been able to run through and complete The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass yet; some of us have been too distracted with exploring every single pixel of the ocean or maximizing our cannon minigame scores (2660) to rush to the adventure's end.

If you're still in the beginnings of your quest to save Tetra from the terrible Ghost Ship, the feel of Link's boomerang still unfamiliar to your hand, make sure to check out Portable Video Gamer's collection of miscellaneous tips and tricks. Some of their advice is obvious, but their points on performing Link's roll ("As you walk, touch the very edge of the screen, then drag your stylus towards Link and quickly slide back to the screen's edge.") and practicing for multiplayer battles in the Temple of the Ocean King are helpful.

Provided that you've already sailed past the fog in the northwestern section of the map, the page of info should be spoiler-free, unlike the forum threads out there riddled with casual posts that give the game's great parts away. Have any random tips of your own that you'd like to impart to your fellow readers? Make sure to leave them in our comments!

God of War 2 GDC video leaked online

God of War 2 shaky-cam
screen captureNo one was supposed to be recording at the time, but it appears that the trailer for God of War 2 (from Phil Harrison's keynote at GDC) has managed to find its way onto the intarwebs and into our hearts.

There you can observe good ol' Kratos jabbin' and choppin' and doin' his thing with his mythological Greek friends. Of course, if you haven't played (or finished) the first God of War game, be aware that a minor spoiler is revealed early on by the trailer's narrator. (Didn't see that one coming, didja?)

But, yeah... who do we have to thank for breaking Sony's embargo on this footage? Apparently some guy named "Element" who helps out at playsyde.com. Will Sony act against YouTube for hosting such a video? We'll have to see now, won't we? Whatever the case, an official direct-feed version would certainly be appreciated if it can be managed.

[Thanks, David; via digg]
