Hammer Bro

First appearance: Super Mario Bros.

Relatives and variants: Boomerang Bro., Fire Bro., Sumo Bro.

Special characteristics: tosses hammers at passers-by, extremely susceptible to the sleep-inducing music box

The Hammer Bro is essentially Koopa Troopa with a helmet and a little hardware, but he is nevertheless a force to be reckoned with. Since he first appeared in Super Mario Bros. he has slung everything from hammers and boomerangs to fireballs and lightning bolts in an effort to do Mario in. If you aren't feeling particularly confrontational, though, you could always just wait for Hammer Bro to make that high jump and dash beneath him. Problem solved.
