Dry Bones

Special characteristics: undead and virtually indestructable, throws bones as projectile weapons, resurrects itself when crushed

In a game series rife with turtle varieties, it's inevitable that a turtle skeleton would also appear. Hence, Dry Bones. Although Dry Bones' ability to resurrect itself can be annoying, it also works to the capitalist player's advantange. Wear the raccoon in SMB3 and exploit a group of them for infinite 1ups. Then again, you could select him for a race in Mario Kart DS or Wii and clack your way to the finish line.
