Special characteristics: self-destructs when provoked, suspiciously controls helpful cannon access in SM64

Jump on it, sure, but don't stick around to watch it do this. One wonders who is winding up all of the bob-ombs, and whether their wrist feels the way ours does after waggling the Wii Remote too long.

Perhaps having grown tired of walking around aimlessly blowing things up, Bob-omb has more recently become a perishable item. Often seen in the Mario Kart series and Mario sports games, we're not surprised to see that Bob-omb will also appear in the forthcoming Wii baseball game, Super Mario Sluggers.
