Go ahead, just try to argue that the whales of Super Mario Brothers 2 are gentle giants, and that they would never do anything questionable to harm Mario or his friends. Then continue saying that as you approach one of their blowholes and peek down into it. Like clockwork, you'll be blasted with the water pressure of a fire hose and learn to reinterpret Free Willy during your time at the hospital where you'll be listening to a heck of a lot of "Will You Be There." And the whales, they won't be. You're all alone.

The jet stream really is kind of a double-edged sword, though. On one hand the apex of its spray will form a small platform which can elevate your character to otherwise unreachable heights, but if you're reckless and manage to come into contact with the raw force of upstreaming water, consider yourself a helpless krill squirming for mercy.
