Job experience: ranging from Golf (NES, 1985) to Mario Super Sluggers (Wii, forthcoming 2008)

If any one of these professions might be considered Mario's primary source of income, it is most definitely his career as an athlete. From his piddling beginnings as the unnamed golfer of Golf for the NES (debatable, but fairly obviously a conceptual Mario) to his contemporary fame as an Olympic competitor, Mario as been a dedicated athlete longer than anything else. Although he's probably better-known as a kart racer, he has starred in numerous sports series comprised chiefly of golf and tennis games, but also including soccer, baseball and basketball titles. And he still can't drop those extra pounds. Good thing there's Wii Fit.
