Job experience: Mario's Time Machine (PC/NES/SNES, 1993-94), Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (DS, 2005)

If he's anything like Dr. Emmett Brown (a.k.a. "Doc"), piloting a time machine likely qualifies Mario as some sort of zany inventor, too. He already suffers from being a fish out of water with his impenetrable sense of fashion and otherworldly pastimes, so we can't imagine how he'd be perceived by the people of another era. There might be some burnin' at the stake, though.
