Golf (Game Boy, 1990)
Although identical in name, this portable iteration of Golf is no mere port of the NES game released five years prior. The late-1980s success of Mario games is evident with even a glance at this box art, as the design of the famed NES platformers clearly helped define the caricature visible here. His name may not yet have been a household utterance worthy of the title, but the bright overalls and oversized mustache are very much at the forefront. Among the features that distinguish this game from its console counterpart were a soundtrack to enliven an otherwise tranquil golf course, a brand new set of course holes and junior character models called Chibi.
