Shouldn't this make Mario into his metal form? Yeah, that's what we thought. Nope. It slaps a big, dumb coil 'round our protagonist like a snake. To be honest, we'd rather reach those mountainous heights by wall-jumping with mini-Mario, but that's just us. Wall jumping is where the hots are. Plus, how many times have you been led off a platform into a spiraling black maelstrom by the poorly-controlled spring thing? Too many, that's the answer.
