Tennis Mario

This one cracks us up. Look at how nervous and vulnerable he seems with so much skin exposed to the elements. Without his old arm-length shirt and long pants he appears to be waveringly unsure of himself, uncharacteristic of any Mario we have ever seen. It is unclear as to whether he is serving or returning the tennis ball here, but we'll cut him some slack: This illustration is from an early era of Mario Tennis, so maybe he was still growing accustomed to actually playing the game instead of being referee.
