Canadian judge confiscates problem child's Wii as bail
This doesn't just happen in the movies, folks -- it also happens in Canada! Judge Marvin Garfinkle has agreed to release a rather problematic child on bail, granted he provides the court with his beloved console as collateral. The Winnipeg Sun reports that the 12 year old -- whose name has not been released -- has forked over his Wii and, among honoring court dates, must pledge to remain out of trouble, reside with his grandma and participate in a bail management program.
For being 12 years old, the kid certainly has acquired quite an adult-sized rap sheet over the last year, which includes assault, vandalism and even a case of disobeying court order by going to school when he wasn't supposed to.

'and even a case of disobeying court order by going to school when he wasn't supposed to.'
My god Canadians have it backwards.

Hahaha!
He's beat on a teacher and students, is a serious physical threat, a hindrance to an entire classroom's development and just begging to be placed in a more disciplined environment! So they removed him from the school environment via court order to ensure he no longer terrorizes student and faculty! THOSE WACKY CANUCKS!
I doubt they're punishing an eagerness to learn as you're implying with your 'god they're backwards' statement.

@Phil
At least Canadia (yes, I know) has a decent education system.

'effin Joystiq trolls...
If the kid was really that bad why would he want to be in school, especially when he was told not to be there? It IS an uncommon, right? Most kids get in trouble for skipping school, not randomly showing up.
I meant nothing disparaging about our northern neighbors. You guys have health care down right and I'm sure your schools are fine too.

take away his home entertainment and he will be back on the street looking for something else to do.
judges need to suck it, they cause more problems than they solve.
