VC in Brief: Final Fantasy (NES)
Final Fantasy (NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points)
We say: A classic that everyone should at least try once
We say: A classic that everyone should at least try once
The first Final Fantasy needs no introduction. It's a timeless classic and influential in countless ways, so it definitely deserves a playthrough. We'd say more, but there isn't really much else to say about one of the most important games ever.

You're only a douche if you didn't spend your money on something worthwhile.

You guys say important, I say, "1995. Tales of Phantasia."
Dreganfyre @ Oct 6th 2009 2:38PM
You're saying Tales of Phantasia was more important than Final Fantasy?

Hell yeah, it's basically the only RPG series in competition with Final Fantasy.

google ads on videos are obnoxious and annoying.

You guys say important, then let's mention Super Mario Bros...... yah... beat that one!
aang1818 @ Oct 6th 2009 2:16PM
Off the top of my head:
Pacman
Pong
Space Invaders
Beat those.

I think Final Fantasy is a shining example of third party work on the NES. It sits up there with Megaman and the like as one of the great third party franchises.
I would love to see Final Fantasy 2 and 3 for the SNES end up on the VC, too. Both of them were excellent as well.
@aang1818
Two of those games you mentioned are vertically oriented. They don't translate well to horizontal screens - especially wide format screens.
The third, Pong, loses a lot of appeal in my book if you don't have "paddles" to play it with. A d-pad just doesn't cut it for me.

food and bills. and deadhead fred on psp $7.99.(I play my psp daily now)
There are so many awesome retro games still to be released and they're probably gonna be the things i miss most about my wii.

Final Fantasy I and II were first (in the US) re-released on the PS1 before the GBA and PSP, it was called Final Fantasy Origins, I have it. Although I guess it would be harder to find than the other more recent versions.
