Capcom has released a trailer for the Wii version of Resident Evil 0, a GameCube title which was itself a prequel to Resident Evil -- though it was released long after the original. Oh, and the game has already been out in Japan for over a year. If you're confused at all, don't be. Just remember one thing: Other than added support for the Classic Controller and the Wii remote plus Nunchuk, the game is identical to the already available, and backwards compatible, GameCube version. Keep in mind, by "added support," we don't mean enhanced controls -- there's no pointer support or anything.
Try to get excited for its impending winter release. We dare you.
"the Wii version of the Gamecube remake of Resident Evil 0"
Maybe I'm just reading it wrong but it seems like you're saying RE0 on the GC was a remake of the original RE0, which is false since RE0 on the GC was the original RE0 (unless you're talking about how it was originally planned for the N64, which would be a stretch).
I took it the same way as you, that RE0 was previously released on something else. The Gamecube was the only system it's ever been released on, as far as I know. It didn't get a PS2 or Xbox port.
I would buy this if they went the Metroid Prime route and bundled all of the Gamecube re-releases into one package (which would probably consist of two full DVD's) OR re-tooled it with the RE:4 engine, which would be virtually impossible. As it is, it's much cheaper to just buy the GC versions.
I'm trying to muster excitement...and...nothing. Totally flaccid.
They should have done what Nintendo did with MP and put all of the GC REmakes/ports and RE0 in one concise package. The MP games are pretty massive and they managed to put them on one disc. RE1 on Wii was a RE-re-re-release. There's no reason for that.
Well, I mean - REmake is the best of the two. Zero is good, but it's just SO much the same...on all levels - looks great - plays great, the second character control (wonder how that works on this?) - the music gives a great feeling of dread, ominous. You're just feeling like - 'man, I've played this very game before!'
However compared to the recently released archives - I think the average consumer should pass on this one. Get the Cube version for half the cost if you must play it.
It's a great game, although the giant scorpion...really?, but if you weren't hip to playing the REmake, this ain't noooo different.
Even the ardent RE Cube collector that I am, I'm passing on this. Although I might buy archives just because I'd be able to exit the game to the main page to play something else. Can't be that lazy when it's in Cube mode. Baked I am.
I love how he completely ignored the fact that his partner was being raped.
I'm not saying there should be a PRESS B TO SAVE PARTNER like from RE5, I don't even know if this game is even 2 players, i'm just saying the obvious. You shoot the zombies closest to you, Billy could have prevented that girl who's name I don't know from being attacked. I shall call her, Ivana.
Also I see how they're using their old camera setup and how it might be hard to do coop if it isn't split screen, but how hard could that be?
WAT?!?!? RENDERING TWO ROOMS AT THE SAME TIME?!?! OH NOESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

So no. No excitement whatsoever.

Did you see that delicious AI that Billy has?

Umm, remember that a lot of the backgrounds were basically full FMV, like the roof of the moving train, for example.

Wow, Capcom. I'm sure glad other publishers/developers don't (often? ever?) do this. Also, $30 is highway robbery for nearly a direct port.
BrokenTriforce @ Sep 17th 2009 4:05AM
and that same $30 says you'd prefer the gc controls to the wii controls
