Toys R Us writes in $15 launch day savings on Scribblenauts

There you go. If you live near a TRU and you've been on the fence (for some reason) about this game, consider your decision made.

Acekard 2i FTW!!!!!!!
nate @ Sep 9th 2009 7:34PM
I don't believe you can actually use the card on the item as you are buying it.
Barra @ Sep 9th 2009 7:37PM
Right, but they are basically giving you $15, only you must use them to buy something else in toys r us.
Amiright?
nate @ Sep 9th 2009 7:41PM
That doesn't make the game $14.99, as per the article. The game still costs the full amount.
Greyseal @ Sep 11th 2009 11:31AM
Which is why it says "effectively." Funny how words mean things.
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 9th 2009 7:50PM
Well, I already pre-ordered through Amazon, due to the fact that I got a 30$ dollar gift card lol. But still, a kickass deal if you want/need (yes, need) the game.
sparklecoogs @ Sep 9th 2009 11:04PM
The article reads, "effectively dropping the price" to $14.99, nate. In that case, it obviously means the price is, in essence but not literally, $14.99. The article does not literally claim that the game costs $14.99, as you state.

I'd say the title of "savings" pretty much implies the opposite, but either way it's a good deal. i'm sure anyone can find something else they want at TRU
objectionLogic @ Sep 10th 2009 2:35AM
Well what you should really do is buy Scribblenauts, get the $15 gift card, then walk out and walk back in and buy Mario & Luigi 3.
flameofdoom666 @ Sep 10th 2009 10:51AM
On SUNDAY, you get a $10 giftcard if you purchase Mario & Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story at Toys R Us.
nate @ Sep 10th 2009 12:56AM
I am well aware of what it says and means, but I disagree with that stance. I'm not a fan of these "promotions". The insinuation that it's a discount (however perceived as a value added proposition) to the game. Additionally, the headline says $15 savings ON the game. I find it disingenuous and misleading
Freedom Town @ Sep 10th 2009 2:02PM
Correct. If at the end of the day, I spent $30 dollars for the game....then i spent $30 for the game. I could give two shoots about whether or not I have a gift card to TRU....the game is not $15.
MuckyMann @ Sep 10th 2009 2:23AM
Does this deal apply to Toys R Us in Canada?
Firtch @ Sep 10th 2009 2:54AM
Or buy a stuffed animal for your sweetie! effectively making you getting laid for FREE and the game for $30!
Jarlino @ Sep 10th 2009 6:36AM
This.
Taijo @ Sep 10th 2009 7:50AM
Cake for this man.
Adam Dorsey @ Sep 15th 2009 1:24PM
Well, that settles it. To Toys R Us!
Storm Eagle [Resident Capcom Megafan] @ Sep 10th 2009 11:01AM
Anyone who owns a DS and has been on the fence about this game doesn't deserve the $15 gift card.
It's a must own!
Drago Dracini @ Sep 10th 2009 2:52PM
well... I guess I'll be going to TRU, buying the game, getting the gift card, returning the game, and buying it again with the gift card. thus making it $15... fuck you TRU...
Crusty Magic @ Sep 10th 2009 3:15PM
You're an idiot if you think that you'll be able to get away with that.
Drago Dracini @ Sep 10th 2009 3:19PM
... your point being?

No, im still effectively spending $30. Just because I get $45 worth of stuff doesn't mean the game is now $15 in any way.
