Rumor: A new Tatsunoko vs Capcom challenger appears

You know how Capcom said that the North American and European releases of Tatsunoko vs Capcom would have some new faces not seen in the original Japanese release? Well, you could be looking at one of them from the Tatsunoko side as reader Vincent tipped us on the above scan. Vinny says the dude is Tekkaman Blade, who originally appeared in what is known as an anime. We're not sure what this anime is or what it does exactly, but as soon as we crack that code, we'll be sure to let you all know. While we do that, be sure to keep those fingers crossed for our pal Phoenix Wright.

It's not too late, I'm guessing. They have to replace that fat stupid genie character with someone else due to licencing issues (apparently he's in an American game... I'd like to know what), and then there's 4 other characters planned for the US and Euro release. If Tekkaman Blade is one of them, that means there is still 4 more slots available because that genie has to be replaced, aside from the 4 new characters.

I desperately want Speed Racer added. Samurai Pizza Cats, I don't think would work. They're way too small to be balanced.

Come on Capcom, how hard is it to mess around with the font and get Objection! to work. You could even just leave the kanji, and just translate the voiceover.

Tekkaman Blade showed up on the earliest years of either Fox Box or Kids WB back in the mid 90s late Saturday morning for like 2 years. I remember watching it like crazy and then even importing the really fun old b&w Gameboy game of it.

It was the UPN kids shows.

It lasted half a season and then they replaced it with Jumanji.

Nope, there's a Tekkaman and a Tekkaman Blade. Regular Tekkaman has rounded armor, while Tekkaman Blade (A.K.A. Teknoman, who's wearer was mistranslated Slade when it was shown on UPN, and then corrected back to Blade for the English dub DVD release) has more sharper-looking armor with edges. Tekkaman Blade was sort of a reinvention of the now retro regular Tekkaman. The two Tekkamen suits are worn by different characters and are armed with different weapons, the original using a huge lance, while the Blade version uses a blade, hence the Blade after it's name (there's also a Tekkaman Rapier and Tekkaman "Gunnar" in the Tekkaman Blade series).

No that was Tekkman from the 70's Teknoman blade is from the mid 90's a remake of the old 70's show

I've had this game for a long time and i paid alot for it. I'm not getting it again unless Speed racer or Guile is put into it. Besides i use that fat Bastard they took out. BTW i have seen Teknoman way back in the day on UPN

Haha- for the western version of the game, it's funny that Capcom is revealing all of this in Japan first. Oh well. If it's coming out in December in Japan, it damn sure better come out in December in the US!
(Europe, you guys already know you're screwed until 2010 by virtue of the fact that you're Europeans.)
