Retro Studios could return to Metroid 'some day'
Promoting the recently-released Metroid Prime Trilogy, IGN posted a video tour (embedded after the break) of Retro Studios' Texas offices. In the video, Retro President and CEO Michael Kelbaugh discusses the franchise and the possibility of a Retro return to the Metroid series.
While Kelbaugh notes the team was aware it would only be responsible for a trilogy within the franchise, he could not say the team will never return to Samus' universe. "I think Retro will always be associated with the Metroid Prime franchise and who knows, maybe we'll do another one someday," Kelbaugh said, leaving the door to a possible Metroid return slightly ajar.
For now, Retro Studios has hung up its Galactic Federation club coat and is working on new projects, in hopes to "refresh" its development team. Metroid continues to grow elsewhere with Team Ninja currently developing Metroid: Other M for the Wii. An exciting game on the Wii's horizon -- albeit with a terrible name.

Well I'm loving the new controls on Trilogy - must buy for any FPS Wii fan or fan of Metroid Prime...even if you have the Cube titles still.
I'd love to see Retro come back to Prime, I'd really like to see Hunters get a remake and come out for Wii from Retro...or at least some other 'side quests' that Samus would have had during her travels amoung the universe.
There's really a never ending well to draw from for the IP, you just gotta think outside of the phazon box.
Man, am I enjoying Troligy though, so much I'm also playing Hunters again - so I'm fully emersed in Aran action right now and will be for the next couple of months.
Kudos to Retro for creating such a great series and my fav game of all time (besides Ocarina) with Echoes....more than happy to shell out more bells for Retro in the future.

It is a horrible name. People will start referring to it as MOM for short and then everyone will be playing with their MOM's and it'll all sound really weird. "I love MOM" children will say and parents all around the world will be horribly mislead to believe that their children love them more than their video games.
Yeah, there's something on the horizon.....trouble.
[And an awesome game, too.]

It never struck me as a bad name, just as a rather strange one. It sounds like a working title
Anyhoo, i'm much more interested in them (or Nintendo, or whoever), unveiling that new IP they're supposed to be working on. Very fascinated to see what they'll put out

Yeah, I never disliked the name Other M. It's definitely unique, and won't be confused with any other games. I just want to know some of the back-story behind the game, maybe the title will make since once we play it a bit. As for Retro rStudios and Metroid, I am glad, hopefully they will be reunited at some point, they did a great job with the Prime series.

I think they should go back to work on Raven Blade, or something original.
