Framed as a conciliatory gesture for
No More Heroes 2 coverage that didn't happen, the back page of the latest
Nintendo Power promises that the next issue will reveal something of interest on DSiWare. The back-page blurb mentions that the mysterious reveal will be "a major DSiWare title that should make many of you very, very happy." Though, unless it's a free app that lets us read new information about
No More Heroes 2, we don't see how we'll
ever be satisfied.
It shouldn't be too hard to make DSiWare users "very happy." So far, if you
don't like
Art Style games (and somehow, plenty seem to dismiss the series), the service has been lacking. Even if you
love Art Style, for that matter, it's been light on content. We just hope the new announcement is truly
new and not something that is already out in Japan.

Art Style pwns.
The only DSiware I can think of that is mindblowingly amazing is that picture translator that lets you take pictures of words and then translate the word into six different languages. I would buy a DSi just for that software.

I haven't quite seen the appeal of the Art Style games, but I will say that I'm very happy with Mighty Flip Champs.
Really, what would make me "very, VERY happy" would be if they started stepping up the releases again on both of their services.
Chris @ Aug 27th 2009 12:50PM
Know what would make me "Very, Very Happy"? I flippin game worth playing. With all the 1st Party greats that Nintendo has we get nothing! Mario, Zelda, Zirby, Star Fox, Metroid, etc, etc, etc. Honestly, they could flippin PORT Super Mario Bros. and I'd be happy. However, the way DSiware is going it will probably be "Super Watch Paint Dry DS"..........
SoshiKitai @ Aug 27th 2009 12:54PM
Are you saying DSiWare should have a Mario/Zelda/Kirby/etc game?
....cuz if you are, don't complain. WiiWare doesn't have any of those either.
If you're going to state that the Wii at least has some Wii disc games of those, I could say that so does the DS, except replace "disc" with.... cartridge? ...what do you call those things? Chips?
Chris @ Aug 27th 2009 1:01PM
I'm not saying they should have those games specifically, but I'm just saying they are known for releasing quality games and haven't yet. We got Mario and Donkey Kong which was cool and we got a raped version of Dr. Mario. I'm looking for World of Goo DS or Tertis Party or something. Shoot, I'd be happy with a Mario Tower Defense game or a Zelda Fishing game, just something of quality.
At least Nintendo should give us a portable virtual console, because a 10 year old GameBoy game is better than what we are getting now! If they release one more calculator I may just run over my DSi! lol

How I see it... Nintendo in general needs to put more into both WiiWare and DSiWare. With some of their core franchises. Heck, look at Megaman 9... Nintendo should do that with some of their franchises. An original Mario platformer in the vein of Super Mario World, right down to the animation... a Kirby game styled after Kirby Super Star? Maybe even some REAL Donkey Kong games, though I suppose that's a useless hope since DK64. Jungle Beat is the most we can hope for... but how about a 2-D Metroid game again? Last original one was Fusion, and that was great... but that could easily be done for DSiWare or WiiWare. Unfortunately, Nintendo's too busy with the next half a dozen of Wii Sports, Wii Fit, etc games... I loved Nintendo's games, I just wish they'd throw us original Nintendo fans a few more bones. >>

Mother 3? :D
...*breaks out into laughter* I'm sorry, I can't keep a straight face anymore suggesting that. Nintendo likes the Mother series like we like toilet paper.
Shadow31 @ Aug 27th 2009 1:11PM
Please don't tell me you just suggested Mother 3 to come as DSiWare... I won't even pretend to argue with all the holes there.
And yes, I'm not just talking about the fact that Nintendo doesn't love us anymore.
threefour @ Aug 27th 2009 1:44PM
please tell us more about these holes. would the size of the game be an issue?
Backslash @ Aug 27th 2009 4:29PM
Wait, what's the difference between "pretending to argue" and "arguing"?
. . . "pretending to argue" is make-believe?
atastysammich @ Aug 27th 2009 2:07PM
My guess? A Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics Calculator.
SoshiKitai @ Aug 27th 2009 2:11PM
Bet you wish it were a Megaman calculator.
atastysammich @ Aug 27th 2009 7:18PM
Damn right.
bongoes (is back) @ Aug 27th 2009 2:17PM
The only thing on DSiWare that would make me very very happy is a portable VC.
PSU Fan @ Aug 27th 2009 2:36PM
Please make it Earthbound.

S. Tiger @ Aug 27th 2009 4:06PM

Super mario Brothers : Lost Levels 2
Include all the e-reader levels that were in super mario 3. Japan got tons of (like 30) levels out o the e-reader so compile up all those levels and you got a fantastic game downloadable game. Killer application.
here is a few examples of those amazing levels:

Bloodwrath @ Aug 27th 2009 11:19PM
a remake of tetris ds?
jklope4 @ Aug 28th 2009 11:26AM
I'm going to say it's got to be Ocarina of Time.
Except for all the reasons why it's not.
Fab @ Aug 28th 2009 10:21AM
I'm going to dare to dream that it's a DS Okami sequel. That might sounds far fetched, but IGN are reporting that the next issue of Famitsu will have info on something being called "Okamiden", the Kanji of which apparently suggests that it a sequel. It would also make sense for such a game to be on DS, with the stylus in place of the brush, as well as it not being a massively successful console game.
Okamiden @ Sep 2nd 2009 12:41AM
Domo?
