Tetris is currently available on the Wii in the form of
Tetris Party, and
sort of available on DS (if you don't mind eBay) as
Tetris DS. Today, Majesco
announced that it will add to the
Tetris selection with the release of new
Tetris games for Nintendo platforms in spring 2010. No specific details or media have been released, so we don't know about any theme or gameplay variations that may be included -- though we can be
quite certain that it won't be based on classic Nintendo characters.
Tetris Online, Inc. is working with Majesco, suggesting that these are downloadable releases.
Between the release of
Tetris on iPhone and announcement of a
PSP mini Tetris game from EA, and these two upcoming releases from Majesco, it's suddenly a wonderful time to like
Tetris. Which is just a different way of saying it's a wonderful time to be anyone on the planet Earth.

Sounds good, but I don't think you can beat Tetris DS. I was lucky enough to find a copy at Kmart in their poorly organized video game section, behind a display case with only the spine of most games visible...it's like they go out of their way to avoid selling games. Has Nintendo given a reason as to why the game is out of print? Tetris is a portable gaming staple and making it such a rarity only drives people to pirate it.

When you make a official Tetris game you have to pay royalties to The Tetris Company. So Nintendo stopped printing the games.

Odd. Nintendo's Tetris on GB, NES, and Tetris DX on GBC were never out of print as long as those consoles were being manufactured, that I can remember.

They can't be any worse than THQ's take on Tetris games.

Hopefully these versions of Tetris won't be broken like Tetris DS and include infinite spin. Any Tetris game that includes infinite spin is an abomination.

I own both Tetris DS and Tetirs Party so they better do something really amazing to justify it's existence.
both games are great and tons of fun.

Really, once you have that one solid Tetris title of your choice in your personal library the others just add window dressing.
I had absolutely no idea how RARE Tetris DS has become. I gave it as present/pack in DS game present for my parents when the DS lite came out and I haven't been able to find a copy for it since so we can all go head to head.
