Pop'n Music's not-great control scheme explained

Instead of a series of nine buttons, the Wii game uses Wiimote and Nunchuk motions to control an on-screen characters hands as they move over a series of five virtual buttons. In reverse, because he's facing you. Move the Nunchuk down and to the left to hit the button on the far left of the screen. Move the Wiimote straight down to hit the button on the middle right.

We want to keep an open mind about this unreleased product and all, but this does not sound good. In no way does it sound better than just pushing buttons.

It seriously needs that arcade controllers, unless if Konami likes to do a TAKE THAT on the purists.

It really sounds like Konami doesn't know wtf to do with their main rhythm franchises. This is absolute bullshit.
I'm just going to laugh at them when they go "WHAT WENT WRONG?!!?!??!?!"

I can't think of a way to make Pop 'n Music control well with just a Wiimote. Well, I can, but it wouldn't be fun. And that's the problem: the control method for Pop 'n Music is 95% of the fun, so if the controls are awkward, boring, weird, or just plain stupid, the game will not be fun.

I've played this game a good bit, and the controlls are terrible! You do end up hitting multiple buttons at the same time, and hitting the far left and right buttons is difficult to do. Also, the music selection isn't any good either; it's all extremely easy, especially since you can simply flail your arms about madly and still get just about every note.
