SaGa 2 remake arrives in Japan this September with limited edition DSi

Though the company has yet to reveal the design, a limited-edition SaGa 20th Anniversary DSi system will be available on the game's release date, for 24,880 yen ($261). It's a good idea for Square Enix to release this limited edition and celebrate this milestone with this particular SaGa game, as ... people like this one.

I hope an A-spec Limited Edition would be coming, so that I'd have the game, OST, etc., all in one bundle.

A Limited Edition bundle that costs almost $100 more?
DSi - 170
DS Game - 30 (+5 Sq Tax)
Total: 205.
Is that design really worth 55 extra?

Pfft, even Konami Japan pulled it off with Order of Ecclesia and Tierkreis.
Why not Square Enix, then? Either way, I know what I'm getting upfront, instead of the usual US$40 Square Enix tax; ironically, Atlus USA managed to pull it off justifiably with Marvelous Entertainment's Luminous Arc 2.

That's really weird. I got a plain white DS and got a replacement housing like anybody who doesn't want to spend $500 on an extremely limited edition DS.
I did however get a Limited Edition PSP bundle. It was $200.
It came with the $170 PSP, a $40 game, a $20 movie, and a $10 SD card.
Which is like the exact opposite. You actually save money!

Oh, and don't forget the limited edition color, which boosts the value up another $50 I guess.

you're adding up US prices there... games cost a lot more in Japan than they do here!
Dragon Quest IX for instance is 7,900 Yen, about $80 (>_< yikes!), and Mario Kart DS has a list price of 4,800 which is about $50.
I can't find the price for SaGa 2 on it's own, but I figure it has to be at least as much as a 3 year old title, so, let's try this:
DSi = 18,900 Y (198.55 usd)
DS Game = 4,800 Y (50.42 usd... or more)
total = ~$248.97
...which makes it about $10 above the "correct" Japanese price (assuming greedy Square doesn't want $60 for SaGa2 in the first place).

There's also the used game market in Japan, which is practically an industry of its own. Prices go substantially lower there, most of the time.

Why does Japan always get these really cool limited DSi's? I don't remember the last one I saw in Europe.
A Ho-oh Gold and/or Lugia Silver one would be enough to make me get a DSi.

A remake of Final Fantasy Legend 2 (SaGa 2: Treasure LEgends) is definitely a want. I always liked this game.
It's a shame that the 16-bit style remake of SaGa 1 (FF Legends 1) for the Wonderswan was never ported to GBA and localized.

Wait, why does it look like the main guy on the picture right arm is less muscular than his left arm, too much of the grabbing and pushing?
Game looks brilliant, DS is shaping up to be RPG heaven. So many games I've enjoyed over the years.
