New Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo footage looks rad
A quick poll of the Joystiq staff proved that most of us stopped watching Dragon Ball years ago (some never got into it), but general consensus is the upcoming title looks very appealing. A platformer at its core, Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo (Dragon Ball: Tenkaichi Daibouken) focuses on the Red Ribbon Army and Piccolo Daimao story arcs of the famed anime and manga series. Looking for a new 2.5D adventure? Namco Bandai's upcoming Wii-exclusive might find a spot on your radar. A mash-up of three Japanese commercials (with game footage) can be found after the break.

Gun Barrier @ Jun 26th 2009 8:21PM
They are making a sequel, but it will probably be about the saiyan saga. I hope they make the movie alot better this time.

Gun Barrier, should I expect this immortal line, "IT'S OVER 9000!", to be shouted in the live-action Hollywood adaptation?
Oh, going back on topic, I'm wondering this plays like The Legend of Kage 2.

I bet the majority of DBZ fans haven't seen the original Dragonball, which is kind of like the equivalent of Naruto & Naruto Shippuden.
Gun Barrier @ Jun 26th 2009 8:23PM
Not really. Naruto Shippuden is alot worse than Naruto, while dragon ball and dragon ball z are both equally good. IMO

I actually like Dragonball better than Dragonball Z. I just hate the fact that DBZ turns into a super sayian only party mid series. Not to say it's not awesome, but they pushed aside a lot of original favorites when the super sayian trend arrived.

This looks cool! We need more beat-em-ups these days!

What was that thing with the DS at the end? I thought this was a Wii game.
Innagadadavida @ Jun 26th 2009 5:30PM
That DS game is an RPG, but it picks right up where this game ends (it starts at the end of Dragon Ball). They're not sequels, but as far as the story goes they connect perfectly.
motang @ Jun 26th 2009 5:41PM
Looks cool, I wonder if it will make it's way over here? I would definitely get it. :D

Not a fan of Dragon Ball, in any iteration, but I must say they have anime game visuals down perfectly. Never seen any other game series do so well at making 3D look like traditional animation.
Heck, it looks less obvious than the 3D effects used in some animated shows (Simpsons, for example)
Dreganfyre @ Jun 29th 2009 9:23AM
I was thinking the same thing... Cel-shaded graphics have officially been mastered.
arrness @ Jun 26th 2009 9:36PM

cool! hope there's an english version... i probably won't let that stop me from checking it out though! (on that subject, murumasa is nearly as beautiful as I hoped it would be, and pretty fun as well.)

Fixed. :)

Is it safe to assume that this game's basically a Wii version of DragonBall Advance? DragonBall Advanced Adventure was really awesome. This iteration of the series for Wii looks equally, if not more awesome.
thickchick @ Jun 28th 2009 2:17AM

Wow, not really into the DBZ games, but this is lookin really good, in the sense that it retains the looks of the show quite well. Otherwise...
