Exclusive blue Wiimote, Nunchuk and MotionPlus for lucky Wii Sports Resort visitors

From June 25 to August 31, Nintendo will give away exclusive light blue Wiimotes, MotionPlus attachments and Nunchuks (and a matching jacket, of course) to five thousand Japanese Club Nintendo members who register copies of Wii Sports Resort. Not that Nintendo needed to offer any kind of incentive to sell Wii Sports Resort.

This is one reason the grass looks greener on the other side with Microsoft...
...Microsoft caters to us westerners with for example: netflix, facebook, and lastfm.
They are always trying to improve and incorporate the 'norms' of society into xbox.
...Nintendo caters to Japan with certain channels, games, and exclusives.
They are not really caring or focusing on what westerners would want or would use.
I'm not a fanboy of any means just an avid gamer.... and I would prefer a system that is looking to give me things I use rather than leave me out/ not focus on the western audience

"Microsoft caters to us westerners with for example: netflix, facebook, and lastfm."
Ignoring the obvious fact that we're dealing with a Japanese company, each application listed has nought to do with video games. In fact, I would say Microsoft is actually destroying gaming by distilling our hobby with unneeded diversification.
The boys from Redmond have come to gaming with a PC-mindset. Hell, their first entry was a dumb PC stuffed into the most awful casing. If catering to "Westerners" means unfinished hardware, half baked ideas and single genre solutions, then you're welcome to it.
These applications are merely tools of distraction, and you're sucking at the tit of flashy gaudiness with absent glee. Pathetic.

Bowser, my guess is that you live with your parents still or maybe rent a single room where your TV and your PC are right next to each other, so there's no need for multimedia feature adds on your console. There's no other way I can see where you're coming from, unless it's willful ignorance. Not to mention the state of gaming is as good as it's ever been (and I say this as someone who still has his Commodore VIC-20 cassette peripheral somewhere), so there really hasn't been any distillation.

Actually, you're assuming everybody uses these things regularly, like facebook and netflix. Some of us actually have lives and don't spend our time socializing rather than using social networking sites, or will grab a redbox movie while at the grocery store rather than using netflix because we're too lazy to leave the house. Oh wait, your computer isn't in the same room as your TV, so you need your game system to do everything for you... you may call it convenience, I'll call it laziness. Get out of the house or something, rather than spending all your time on social networking sites, because you, sir, seem like the one who lives with your mother.
Some people buy gaming systems to... I dunno, game?
Dracula Jones @ Jun 15th 2009 4:43PM
Who says you can't still play games if there's a new social networking blade on the 360 dashboard? Nobody says you have to use any of the extra features, whether it's multimedia streaming or social networking, but why would you reject the option if it's offered to you for free? It's not like they don't make games anymore.
If you don't have a 360 or a PS3, I guess it's easy to discount how convenient it is to have a complete multimedia box connected to your TV, so you can watch Adult Swim on PlayOn if you missed it that week, or catch up on your shows on Hulu without sitting at your desk, or stream your entire music, photo, and video library from another room. I have a Wii, too, but let's be honest, loading an SD card and opening the Photo Channel doesn't exactly cover it.

xSHiNOx @ Jun 15th 2009 1:32PM

Snake Robot Podium @ Jun 15th 2009 1:35PM
I call it Viagra blue (in my mind), so I guess it's kind of manly?

"Not that Nintendo needed to offer any kind of incentive to sell Wii Sports Resort"
I'm not really sold on the idea yet. I could go for an incentive right about now.
Timerider @ Jun 15th 2009 5:29PM
Again with the Japan only. Club Nintendo of America sucks.
Shoyz @ Jun 15th 2009 6:54PM
How is this good news for alternate color schemes?
The fact that it's 'Exclusive!' means that there's probably not going to be a widely-available release of a blue color, unless it's Navy Blue or something.
Guess we'll all have to buy Housing Replacements. Or spend $200 for one on eBay.
xSHiNOx @ Jun 15th 2009 9:09PM
the control shouldnt cost 200 on ebay. the snes wii controller is only like $60-100. the blue wiimote with wiimotion + could cost 100-150.
Anti-Villian @ Jun 16th 2009 8:13AM
Wiisports sucked arse there is no way in hell nintendo are scamming me into a sequal, I do want the periph though, it's going to be bundled with redsteel 2 right? I be pissed off my sticks if I have to buy another minigame disc for a waggle enhancer.
that sounds pretty aggressive >.
uncle jesse @ Jun 16th 2009 1:47PM
Haha, that was aggressive!
But I don't think Nintendo scammed you with Wii Sports. It was included with your Wii. I'll take any pack-in games with a system launch, it never happens anymore.
As for the motion plus, it sounds like it will be bundled a couple different places. For example, Red Steel 2, Tiger Woods, and Wii Sports Resort will all be available in a bundle with the periph included.
amasterfunk @ Jul 21st 2009 11:52AM
i really want to buy one of these on ebay. i dont care how much they cost i just want one.
