Idolmaster: Dearly Stars coming to DS
As you may or may not know, the Idolmaster rhythm game series is so popular in Japan that the most commonly selected name for newborns there last year was [insert some name from Idolmaster's Wikipedia entry here]. Now that it's -- according to some Famitsu scans -- apparently coming to DS in Idolmaster: Dearly Stars, we expect the Land of the Rising Sun to love it even harder. Look for it to be elected "King of Forever" by the fall.
Also, congrats to Team Idolm@ster for coming up with the most awkward DS backronym yet.

For some odd reason, I read the title as "Deadly Stars", and immediately, I thought of the entire cast in ninja-clad taking down some government protecting looking guys in black glasses and suits. I need to take care of my dyslexia, it doesn't help very much.

somehow I also read this as deadly stars, and managed to RE-read it as deadly stars as well Xp

It's not just a rhythm game...
It's also a trap...

But it's better than the wave of Guitar Hero and Rock Band releases. Seriously, Guitar Hero 5? Already?

"we expect the Land of the Rising Sun to love it even harder."
I see that which you did there.

Pfft, typical Namco Bandai... >_>
I don't expect this to have a U.S. release at all...

I wouldn't mind seeing a US release. Though, and I called it, if they brought it, the cover would be completely different and wouldn't resemble the in-game characters.

I get the feeling this one will see a US release.

Courtesy of Atlus U.S.A., and not Namco Bandai Games America.
S. Tiger @ May 27th 2009 7:55PM
So Namco Bandai would also not bring over say...Tales of VS. for PSP, even though it seems likely that game WILL receive a US release?
Tim @ May 27th 2009 8:50PM
Pfft, Namco Bandai Games America tends to be rather "all-or-nothing" when it comes to Tales.
Besides, NGBA would rather milk (a proven mainstream license like) Dragon Ball over, say (niche, small-name series in America like), SRW, Tales, and yes, Idolmaster, combined.
By the way...
ecco, how many times did Dragon Ball get milked dry over the course of twenty years?
IT'S OVER 9000!

My bad, ecco, I was referring to S. Tiger.

I think they ought to have taken, "Dainty Stars," or, "Dirty Sluts," or, "Dancing Solo," or something that could at least be said with a straight face when anyone with even a small understanding of English sees it.
Maybe someone should make a web application of some kind that just generates DS and now DSI backronyms, and lets people vote on them. I am sure that there would be some absolutely jaw droppingly stupid ones that the Japanese could jump on.

"Dearest Stars" would seems to be the best fit.
Tim @ May 28th 2009 10:08AM
Pardon the grammatical error.
What I actually meant to say was, "'Dearest Stars' seems to be the best fit."
