Wii Food Delivery Channel open for business in Japan
If you're in Japan and you like to eat food, you can now order pizza, curry, and other varieties of food using the Wii. Rather than paying through the system, you just pay the delivery guy as normal. Check out the video for a demo of the Demae Channel in action -- and a look at how expensive pizza is in Japan. 3,600 yen ($38) for a large Pizza Hut pizza?

yeah but just think, that money gets put towards something so epic, the heads of Americans would explode just looking at it

It's beautiful and the reason the Wii is failing in the US.

Damn $38 for a pizza is insane, but for some reason this seems really cool to me.

That's kind of awesome, but I'm assuming you can't press the home button in the middle of the game and order food. I don't have time to exit my game to order my gamer grub.

Yeah, ramen at a Japanese chain in my town in California costs $10 here and $5 in a town in Japan--same thing, "imported" restaurant chains cost more. (Not to mention that food delivery in Japan is just ... totally different than the way it works in the US. More choices, often reusable dishes that the restaurant takes away later, etc. Whole different ballgame.) Anyway, it would be great if waiter.com and Nintendo would hook up in the US, but I would be surprised if it happens.
