Retro Adapter outclasses the Classic Controller

Innex will be demonstrating the product at E3, and we're going to do our best to get all those new games or whatever out of the way so we can spend some time with it.

That's awesome. I'm definately picking one of these up. Trying to play N64 games with that awful classic control is just terrible.
GewurztraminerX @ May 21st 2009 12:04PM
I was never too fond of the N64 controller myself (and Ocarina played alright with a 'cube controller) but to each their own.
SNES controllers on the other hand, would be great to use. The Classic controller is servicable in this sense, but, yeah, usually nothing beats a game's original controls.
Also, Storm Eagle is no match for a well timed Hadoken!

Don't tell them my weakness!

Looks cool, but how to you go about plugging 2 (or more) controllers of the same type into it? Do you have to buy two of the dang things???
Fab @ May 22nd 2009 5:42AM
It's not a multiplayer hub type thing, it just allows you to substitute a gamecube controller for a retro controller. If you plug multiple controllers into it it'll still only be able to plug into one gamecube port, so yes, you'll need more than one adapter if you want to play multiplayer.

As Tina Fey would say:
"I want to go to there!"
tkAshur @ May 21st 2009 11:18AM
Thats spiffy. But hows about another adapter after this? Retro Adapter...2? Y'know, for those of us who would like to relive the classics with a genesis, turbografx, and commodore controllers? Of course...if you can find controllers for the latter two...
and...while I'm being a little picky...can't these at least be in some shade of wii white? Or a little off? Othewise...love how it looks like a itty bitty N64. Where do I put my itty bitty expansion pack?
Phil @ May 21st 2009 11:51AM
The real question is this:
When and Where can I get one?
It give me cold chills when i think about how much I have spent on controller peripherals for the Wii.
Adolph @ May 21st 2009 11:59AM
how cool would it be if you plugged in a rumble pak and n64 games rumbled as they should.
I just can't play Star Fox 64 without rumble .
GewurztraminerX @ May 21st 2009 12:05PM
Funny, the adapter even kinda looks like an N64 in shape.
Roto13 @ May 21st 2009 1:52PM
The SNES and NES controllers are no better than the Classic Controller for NES and SNES games, and the N64 controller's control stick wears out too easily. :/
Tee @ May 21st 2009 4:35PM
N64 sticks wore out for those I feel used them improperly, people would let it spring back to center as opposed to guideing the stick. Everyone I know who would just let the stick "pop" or "click" had loosey goosey analog stick. Mine on the other hand still stands firm.
milan @ May 21st 2009 4:43PM
naw, its not the snapping back that wears out the analog stick, its the grinding against the edges. the plastic slowly erodes away, changing the controller forever, much in the same way a meandering river carves a canyon into a mountainside.
Q-Kid-Kyle @ May 21st 2009 3:51PM
i would totally get this...if i had an n64 controller. They should make a new set of the controllers, using updated technologies. The n64 controller could have built-in rumble, the stick would be made so it wouldn't wear out, and would be more like the stick from a nunchuk. And all three retro-style controllers could be remade in wii-white.
milan @ May 21st 2009 4:44PM
but nintendo doesn't want us to fill up our houses with extra unnecessary plastic controllers... oh wait
Levi @ May 21st 2009 6:54PM
Nintendo should just offer a virtual console-only systems with native ports for NES, SNES, and N64 controllers, and offer it in the form factor of an original NES. Or maybe offer multiple controllers that are near identical replicas of the originals but that all have a new proprietary plug. Sell it for $100. That would be amazing.

I think you're on to something here...

Granted, it's not Nintendo that's selling it for a massive mark-up, but they could easily solve that problem with a basic understanding of Economics 101 - supply and demand.
