Looks like Riku is playable in Kingdom Hearts DS

According to a V-Jump ad for the Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Collection Guidebook (an official strategy guide), Riku will be a playable character in the game. The delectable piece of information regarding this was found in the lower left part of the ad, and it states (translated via Andriasang) that the book provides tips on character missions for Donald, various Organization XIII members and, yes, even Riku. So, finally, those looking to control the silver-haired hero can realize their wish.

Additionally, Andriasang translated more regarding 358/2 Days; this time, it's info from the official website. The latest update unveiled the new Hologram Missions, a mode which allows players to replay previously accomplished missions in either normal or trial versions (the latter tacks on special conditions and requirements). And, this being a Riku-centric post, we're wondering how many of those missions have Riku in them? There are 80 Trial missions in total, and here's hoping he's in all of them!

Look at those totally inspired character designs.

I'll never understand why this series has the kind of fanbase that it has. It's Brave Fencer Musashi minus the little fun there was to begin with, plus a contrived and convoluted story/botched character designs/laughable dialogue/etc.

sadly enough I'll probably still get this game, if only to have something to play on the way to work

You loathe the game, and its fanbase, and it's a piece of crap and horrible.

But you're unable to find anything else on the planet that you can take with you on the bus, so you might as well.

He does have a point, however.
Most of the characters look like generic anime/JRPG characters, and what even worse, most of them wear... only black robes.
Where is the inspiration?

So, what you're saying is that I'm a 'sad human being' because I might end up buying something that I wouldn't buy as a console game (due to the above issues) but would somewhat enjoy as a handheld game (since it's a time wasting button masher)?

Maaaan, why the hell do I even bother commenting anymore? All I see here nowadays is ad hominem BS, attacking the people making points instead of the points themselves. Interesting that Feba, someone who makes good comments, would start on that shit too.

Rather than offering me some insight on what makes the series appealing, you go ahead and give a response that wouldn't go down well in the real world (seriously? I'm a 'sad human being'?).

I'm beginning to hate Joystiq. As much as I DON'T like Kotaku, at least the commenters there have at least something going on in the head.

The character designs are ass, but that has never ruined a game for me before. I played some of Kingdom Hearts 1 but the camera drove me crazy.

Tetsuya Nomura is just terrible.

As much as I do like the franchise(though I thought KH2 was a disappointment) I feel the franchise as a whole is losing alot of the charm the first game had.

If you play RE:CoM as Riku it tells you why, the robes are an very important item for the organization to wear. The inspiration is there, you just have to think about it.

Anyway Kingdom Hearts is a great game and I plan on getting this one the minute it comes out. Plus it's from Japan, no duh are the characters going to look anime like... god people I'm sick of the stupidity....

And hey, there are younger people who come to this site, there is no need to be swearing AT ALL! We have come to share out thoughts and that can be done without excessive profanity.

Like Vegeta said. The first one was great, if not awesome. But then it kept losing its charm.

Finally Riku!!! KH is da bomb! But if Soras (or Roxas) theres probably goin to be some "brotherly" love goin on....

P.S. If u dont believe me check out the ending vid of KH 2, Soras got his hand on Rikus ass. Hey i love the KH serries and i buy em the 1st day of release so im just sayin...

Riku was already playable in KH2, in the last part of the battle against Xenmas. You get control of Riku when Sora is paralyzed by Xenmas.

I read the post and think, "You say(/type) that as if COM(/Re:CoM) doesn't have Riku," but I did overlook the KHII final battle use (which is easily overlookable, due to it being ONLY in a battle that he's used, rather than other modes of play (or 'play')).
