Sands, and giant teddy bears, of Destruction
Sega's been quiet about Sands of Destruction since the December announcement of a US release for the world-ending game. Today, it released a new trailer for the RPG which, rarely for the genre, is all gameplay. Slightly fuzzy, zoomed out gameplay, but all gameplay. New screens have also been add to the gallery.
We might not be incredibly enthused about the voice acting, but the combination of 16-bit style 2D role-playing and, uh, giant animate teddy bears flinging smaller animate teddy bears at monsters means Sands of Destruction is staying on our radar. It's still, unfortunately, a distant blip -- Sega currently has the game scheduled for a winter 2010 release.

Mmmh... This looks really good! =D
And I'll take teddy bears instead of robots anytime!
Seriously, I'm having a hard time finding rpgs without machines nowadays... =(

Reminds me of Skies of Arcadia, even the music. I hope this is just as good :D

I agree with JoyStiq that Sega's been super quiet about this game. I love RPGs (been playing them for about a year and a half now) and I've been stoked about this game ever since before it was announced for North America. It's a wonder why Sega's not promoting or marketing this title besides a couple ads I've seen in magazines. Guess they're waiting to put the financial muscle behind another "great" Sonic game...

Explains the lack of support for other games.

Did anyone confirm that they were fixing the horribly broken gameplay of the JP version? Definitely something to look forward to if they did.

Maybe that's why the release window went from winter 2009 to winter 2010?
I loved the video...now I want the game. Badly.

No pre-order bonus = fail. :(
The J-spec release did have a 5-track CD pre-order bonus.

Maybe they'll announce it later. It seems to be a growing trend with games, especially with DS ones.

Rob, I managed to bring up the pre-order bonus in my PM with Sega of America's YouTube channel, and here are the exact words SEGA of America's Assistant Community Manager, who replied on behalf of the channel:
"Got a response quicker than I had anticipated :). I can answer both questions:
1. The game will not have the same CD available for pre-sell, however the community team (that's us) will look to get some of these for contests or giveaways. Not exactly sure how this will go down, but we'd announce this through our forums or blogs if it came up:

http://boards2.sega.com/sega_board
2. According to the producer, the Sands of Destruction will be receiving balance updates only that will not affect difficulty from that of the Japanese release.
Hope this helps..."
