SaGa 2 remake arrives in Japan this fall
A new trailer for the RPG reveals the extent of the makeover that the Game Boy classic will receive on the DS, with character art from The World Ends with You co-designer Gen Kobayashi and a new semi-cel-shaded look being incorporated. We're fond of the adorable monster designs and the even more adorable Meka design.

I'm excited for this, but I wish developers would stop trying to utilize this "chibi 3-D" look on the DS. It never looks nice, and some gorgeous sprite work would look much, much, -much- better. -_-

Man, I just wrote the exact same thing in a little blog rant I did. The only thing is that sprites take longer to do.
@Dv8thwonder: it has nothing to do with mature or cute, it's just the fact that 3D on the DS looks ugly in comparison with proper 2D. In fact I'd say Atlus is more hung up on cute than any other company, but they do a lot of 2D so it always looks nicer.

If you want a more mature visual style, Atlus' approach to the DS is more you liking.Squeenix is hung up on cute, there's no denying that.
