Sadness "developer"
Nibris sent out a message to its YouTube channel's subscribers, indicating that
something related to the developer will be shown at E3 this year. Note that the message doesn't specify the vaporous
Sadness game, or that a game will be shown at all -- merely an "update." Which means that even in the unlikely event that Nibris shows up and displays something, it could
still be disappointing.
Nibris is still holding to a
Fall 2009 date for
Sadness, so it's quite likely that this "update" is intended to be related to the mythical horror game. We hope
Sadness actually does show up -- we'd love to add the day the game becomes
real to our
timeline (which we posted in
2007).

As time goes by I get more and more of a sense that the Nibris guys have no idea what they are doing. I once heard this game described as an "interactive movie" so this is probably like a heavily linear click and point game with motion controls. That isn't a terrible idea, I will give them that. But this has been in development for years now and it barely exists as a game. I think that Nibris are lacking in experience or expertise, maybe both.

I've given up on Sadness. The premise when it was first released was really interesting; a game in black-and-white where you are forced to use the items in the environment to defend yourself against an onslaught of monsters. Several years later, and almost no new information has been revealed. That can't be a good sign. If it's released and it ends up being good, then that's great, but my hopes for it right now are pretty low.

just remember, they also said they'd be at Leipzig last year. How did that end up?

Considering how bad Nintendo did at last year's E3, I hope for some Wii relief from Sadness and hear about upcoming events more interesting than Cammie's dogs.
