Peter Moore says EA Sports is 'under-performing' on the Wii
In the past, Peter Moore has hinted at the tenuous relationship between the company he helms (EA Sports) and Nintendo's three-DVD-wide home console (the Wii). Yesterday, the leader of the highly athletic development studio fully acknowledged EA Sports' lackluster sales performance on the Wii in an interview with Eurogamer, stating, "when I look at the attach rate on the Wii of our software to where I think we should be, we're under-performing still, we need to do much better."
Moore is hoping to claim a few extra slices of that sweet Wii pie with the studio's upcoming MotionPlus-infused sports titles, Tiger Woods 10 and Grand Slam Tennis. Of course, we can't have a story about Mr. Moore without one of his trademarked Awesomely Ostentatious Quotes: "Those two titles couldn't come at a better time for us, nor for Nintendo quite frankly." Oh, yeah. That one's going up on the fridge.

I don't get what's so great about that quote. I can't tell if you were being sarcastic or if you just over hyped it. What's going on?

I think it's just that the guy is so full of himself. Like the EA sports titles are some sort of godsend to the Wii.

The Wii owners don't by EA Sports Peter Moore is trying to tap that market hope it works like how he did at MS with the XBOX360

Oh lord, thank you Peter Moore for saving us from a drought of games this year! I can't see what can go wrong...

That picture of Peter Moore makes him look like the Devil.

I don't know why these sports games can expect to sell high units nowadays. It's all peddling the same stuff that we had 10, 15 years ago. Where's the likes of Speedball and other novelty/unique sports games.

I'll be buying Tiger Woods Golf along with the Wii Motion Plus... but it won't be a recurring thing. The problem with the sports titles on the Wii is that they... suck. They aim them towards casuals and tack on god-awful controls that just muck up the game. Then, when that approach doesn't work, they tack on terrible art styles that make the game look cartoony and inappropriate for a sport sim.
I didn't mind Madden 08 on the Wii, but I have no incentive to go out and buy any of the newer games. They don't appeal to me. I'd rather get it on the PS3 or 360 where the controls are established and well done, the graphics are both good and appropriate for what the game is, and the gameplay is better due to the controls.

Well let me give you a few hints mr president about the current situation.
1) There are quite a few EA haters owning a Nintendo Wii (including myself) since apart from SOME sports games (excluding fifa) EA has done little to promote the idea of quality over quantity. Many of their games are considered inferior to the competition and no matter how nice you are to developers or even try to alter the wikipedia page about EA (seriously people NOT COOL) the quality of this company's games still needs work.
2) You get yearly releases of certain sports games (sometimes twice a year). That's all fine with one tiny problem. The devaluation rate if your games is ridiculous. I would rather wait a year in order to buy last years tiger woods game rather than pay full price for some minor alterations. Even the wii motion plus games will get devalued really fast so I am saving up a lot of money by not buying the games right away. Nintendo on the other hand has a very small rate and many games never drop their retail price. You got a lot of ends, stop cheating your gamers.
3) When it comes to sports games and Nintendo consoles, there was always a preference to the more colorful sports games so even if Tiger Woods analogue stick control is more realistic, I would rather play the old school double click bar on mario golf. Tennis with the wiimote will be more precise but I would rather play mario tennis which is more fun (and since the original the mario tennis games have a lot of depth gameplay wise). So you are not really giving the fans what they want with the ONLY exception being Boom Blox (then again some still wait for its price to drop)
PS1:FIFA was never as good as Pro Evo
PS2:Do you really expect Extraction will sell?
Matt @ May 1st 2009 1:23PM
Well if that wasn't completely obvious...
iconmaster @ May 1st 2009 4:19PM
I've already pre-ordered Tiger Woods 10 for it's MotionPlus-y goodness. But it's not a game I'm going to rebuy every year. If that's what they're counting on, they're going to be disappointed.
bersuit2k @ May 1st 2009 11:46PM
better not hope mario golf (by: camelot) comes out this year or Tiger will be worth 5 bucks. By the way what is Camelot doing?
Matias @ May 2nd 2009 9:42AM
lol he talks as his games are the best stuff ever made, while EA itself it's not exactly a stellar company, releasing minimal actualizations every year for every crappy game they have, and caling them sequels. Even Nintendo's whatever-sport-mario-is-in games are more fun, and have more depth too.
I expect, and want, their games to fail, it's not that I hate them, but I hope they'll learn a lesson (wich it seems they haven't learned in all these years).
iconmaster @ May 2nd 2009 9:51AM
I can't even find that Camelot has announced a new Mario Golf title, so I'm guessing they won't bring one out this year. But even if they did; what does that have to do with Tiger Woods? Can't both be great games in their own ways?
Mr. Fister @ May 4th 2009 10:13AM
I wouldn't be surprised if a New Play Control! version of Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour is released sometime soon.
t_m @ May 3rd 2009 1:01AM
EA don't seem to know what to do with their Wii sports games. Maybe them casual and cartoony, or make them realistic like on other consoles.
I kind of sympathise... they are stuck between 2 potential user bases that probably hardly intersect. Some people want serious sports, some want casual fun.
I don't think they can compete with Wii SPorts in the totally fun arena, so they should go with more serious and realistic sports... but stagger them. tennis & golf this year. Football & hockey next year. etc..
Nicholas @ May 25th 2009 9:11AM
This guy makes me....... PRETTY MAD!!! All of their Wii games suck. To make that worse, Peter Moore has a psychological injury that causes him to bring others down with him. Can't he admit when his work is shit?
