We love it when the wheels of progress turn quickly, but this is a bit much. Just a day after
we learned that publisher XSEED had dropped the rights to
Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Vanillaware's followup to the PS2's
Odin Sphere, we hear from Ignition that it will be scooping the game up for a North American release on Wii in September.
Jeez, Ignition, you didn't even give us time to mount an elaborate, multi-pronged effort to take to the streets to save
Murasama. Now what the hell are we going to do with all this poster board and puffy paint?

I eat my words.
Hardy @ Apr 21st 2009 1:17PM
Go on the streets about Fatal Frame then? Or Disaster Day of Crisis? Or Fragile or....Nintendos inability to create a decent online experience with games or their DLC.
Foetoid @ Apr 21st 2009 11:54PM
Haven't you guys got Disaster yet? I've had the game for months (legit too).
Hardy @ Apr 22nd 2009 12:40AM
I can't get Disaster. It's not in NA. Only Europe and Japan.
I can't play them on my system.
Protodude @ Apr 21st 2009 1:21PM
September? Goddammit. Oh well, Klonoa, Punch-Out and The Conduit will keep me busy till then
8-bit.artist @ Apr 21st 2009 1:22PM
lame it got delayed, but ill take a delay over no localization 100% of the time.
eugaet @ Apr 21st 2009 1:29PM
Ah, was rooting for Atlus. Whatever, just so long as I can buy it.
Stix Remix @ Apr 21st 2009 3:40PM
Atlus would've been awesome.
jONEz @ Apr 21st 2009 1:46PM
Woot woot! I'm more excited for this summer's game lineup then I was last year. Punch-Out, Conduit, Muramasa, Wii Sports Resort, the only thing that could sweeten the deal even more is a really good balance board game! Or a new Zelda for Wii, but I imagine Nintendo will try to spread things out a little.
Yan @ Apr 21st 2009 4:06PM
Muramasa in the summer? blasphemy!
unless you're saying you want to get the japanese version this summer >_>
Snake Robot Podium @ Apr 21st 2009 2:28PM
Shane Bettenhausen strikes again?
samfish @ Apr 21st 2009 2:53PM
Ignition is kicking some serious butt lately. They've brought over so far that horribly translated DS visual novel (which I still give them kudos for doing) and that Docomodake cell phone game (which is another odd but commendable choice, IMO). I think they're also publishing KOF XII later this year.
I just hope they promote it properly. I don't expect Muramasa to be a huge seller, but it'd be nice to see a Vanillaware game do relatively well for once!
CorpHicks @ Apr 23rd 2009 5:09PM
Well if that didn't sound like some piss-poor attempt at some viral marketing... -_-
Door's over there please don't let it hit ya' on the way out.
wutdaheckman @ Apr 21st 2009 3:32PM
at least one publisher isn't afraid of making money.
I can't tell you how many games i'm expecting to buy for the wii.
certainly more than 360
zonic505 @ Apr 21st 2009 3:48PM
I figured. It wasn't even a day before we find out about the new publisher, though I'm kind of surprised that it's Ignition Entertainment rather than Atlus, who published the 2 VanillaWare games for the PS2. Ah well, all that matters is that the game is coming out here in the US (& in Sept., near my 18th birthday.)
Rob @ Apr 21st 2009 3:51PM
This makes my day, although I have to agree that I thought Atlus would be the one to publish this. But I'm happy all the same.
jONEz @ Apr 21st 2009 4:21PM
I've never played Odin Sphere but this game has my interest peaked, other then buying a PS2 is there any way to play it? Thanks!
Moptimus Slime (Gobot in disguise) @ Apr 21st 2009 4:34PM
wow, Im gone from the internet for A DAY and XSEEDS drops Muramasa?
FUCK WHY?
S. Tiger @ Apr 21st 2009 4:46PM
If Atlus had published this, we would have had swag... T~T
samfish @ Apr 21st 2009 5:30PM
You've made 2 comments. I've made well over 6,000. Please reconsider that thought :)
Haohmaru @ Apr 22nd 2009 2:30PM
Your days of lulling the masses into supporting Ignition are at an end, you deplorable viral marketer!
Tim @ Apr 21st 2009 6:53PM
Ignition USA, better offer bonuses beside artbooks. >_>
Josh @ Apr 21st 2009 7:26PM
DAMN IT!
It got delayed from July to September. That shouldn't happen.
sigh
Josh @ Apr 21st 2009 7:33PM
Oh, had XSEED already delayed it before Ignition got the rights to it?
The Amazon listing for the game still shows it being published by XSEED, but the release date is September 8 instead of July 28.
Oh, and releasing this game in the fall is dumb.
Gabriel Lamarre @ Apr 21st 2009 10:06PM
I don't mind if it comes here in fall, I'm so happy this game will get released! =D
