MadWorld 3D screens (3D glasses not included)

Nintendo Everything has posted a batch of 3D screenshots of Sega's gore fest, MadWorld. Now, to be clear, these are not the 3D screenshots that you open on your computer and spin around with your mouse. Nope, you'll need to break out the old red and blue glasses for these. If you happen to have a pair lying around -- and who doesn't? -- Nintendo Everything promises a working 3D experience.
If you don't have any 3D glasses, try this: Stick your face directly against your monitor and cross your eyes as hard as you can*. It won't make the image appear three-dimensional, but it's guaranteed to give you one helluva headache.
*Don't do this. It's bad for your eyes. Seriously.

This isn't 3D. 3D requires 2 separate viewpoints, one for each eye. All they did was take a single image and shift the red channel to one side. Basically it ends up looking like a flat image slightly recessed into the screen. What's funny is that the "It's not blurry, kids. it's... 3D!!!" is the only thing that adds any dimensionality to the image (The text ends up "floating" above the flat background). I'm very disappointed, mainly because now I wish they had included an actual 3D mode in the game.

Even if the 3rd dimensional plane only has two points ... technically, it's still 3D. Anyways, why are you hating so much? What cool graphic edits did you do with MadWorld screenshots? It still looks cool with the old school 3D glasses on.

glad you added the disclaimer. i probably would have actually done it.

I didn't read the disclaimer. I didn't get a headache, but it didn't work either. Although I use an LCD, so it may be different for CRT users. :)

THIS IS NOT 3D!!! It's the same crappy fake 3D that was done on Metroid Prime. You can't just offset red and blue and expect it to be 3D. You have to start with the original 3D wireframe file.

Forget my post below. What Kevin said, exactly.

Biggest waste of time ever? :P

Oddly enough, someone actually did release a game on Wii recently that displays in red/blue stereovision. Some mech combat title, like Armored Core. Unfortunately, turned out to be crap, but it's possible.
I have to imagine that it would work really well with MadWorld's minimal colour scheme.

If you remember, please post the name of the game. Even if the game sucked, I'd love to see the implementation. :)

I still have the glasses that came with Sly Cooper 3, if it was possible on PS2, it better be possible on Wii.

Thinks to self: MadWorld would've made an excellent Virtual Boy game...

Without the "it's not blurry kids, it's..." and "3D!!!" pics standing out in front of everything, you can hardly tell it's 3D with the glasses on. Looking at the originals on the website, they're all just sunken in slightly.

I don't have the necessary glasses, even if this was done right.
feroz @ Apr 22nd 2009 3:23AM
All you actually need is red an blue cellophane. cover one eye with each and voila instant 3d glasses
*Waits in a corner for someone to try it*

Still don't have that. :P
