DEFCON still headed to DS (if someone publishes it)

Introversion has reacquired the rights to the DS game and now hopes to find a publishing partner, in order to get it out worldwide in the third quarter of this year. "With the DSi flying off the shelves recently," Introversion's Mark Morris said, "we believe that there will be particular interest in a finished DS product with such a great track record, especially as the RTS/Strategy sector is so poorly served on the platform."

Ah, Defcon. Another game in my backlog.
I can never play more than ten minutes at a time, it's rather unnerving. You have to destroy cities and kill civilians. I think it was the first time I ever thought about murder in a video game, and as the numbers of deaths rack up it becomes harder and harder to play, for me anyway. I think it's the graphic style. It's really cold.

Yeah, there are even children cries mixed in the soundtrack when you're passing over the destroyed cities.

I'm hoping for single-cart multiplay and wifi capability.

I'm kind of surprised they aren't putting it on WiiWare. Seems like it would be a perfect fit.

Strategy poorly served? Anybody hear of a series called Advance Wars?

Every other game on the DS is a strategy game in some form or another. Civilization, Age of Empires, Luminous Arc, Blue Dragon, Final Fantasy Tactics, Locke's Quest, Advance Wars, Valkyrie Profile, Rondo of Swords......that's just the list off the top of my head. The DS is pretty good for the strategy genre.
This is not to say I don't really, really, really want to play DEFCON on my DS (not DSi, you bastards, I'm not paying 200$ [CAD] for something I already own!).

Those aren't RTS!

You'll all probably laugh at me for saying this, but I don't think it's out of the question that Nintendo might publish this. Miyamoto himself praised DEFCON @ GDC '07.

It could show up as a large DSIWare game.

I like GALCON for the iTouch, and this seems like the same style.

Finally! Joshua wants to play Global Thermonuclear War.

The only thing that could possibly make that comment better would be if this comes out with a tic-tac-toe minigame built in.

Best news I've heard for the DS this year so far! Still kinda hoping they would port Uplink someday though. :P
