Japan: New Play Control Metroid 2 and Chibi-Robo in June
According to Siliconera, Japan will receive the New Play Control versions of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Chibi-Robo! on June 11. No details have been revealed about how the games will be reconfigured for Wii controls, though it's probably a safe bet that Metroid Prime 2 will play similarly to Metroid Prime 3. As for the adorable-housekeeping-robot sim, Chibi-Robo!, it's anyone's guess.
For now, the release date for countries outside Japan remains a mystery, so those who haven't played the Gamecube originals can start holding their breath ... now.

Aw man, I wanted to use waggle The Return of Samus.
Triscuit @ Apr 17th 2009 4:45PM
Never played either of the two. Now if only I could afford a Wii....

I'd be willing to bet (if I wasn't broke) that the Metroid New Play Controls will be announced & dated for the U.S. at E3. That's the awesomeness Iwata keeps referring to. *facepalm*

yes! yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes.
I've been holding off on MP3C until I get a chance to play MP2E, and holding off on MP2E for New Play Control. Hopefully, at the rate they've been releasing New Play Control titles, this means it will be out around x-mas season.

Anyone else hoping they might release a "Metroid Prime Trilogy" box set, with New Play Control Metroid Prime/Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime 3 in one box for Wii?
Zetro @ Apr 17th 2009 4:59PM
Im getting MP2E because its the only metroid game i havnt played, and the multiplayer should be fun on wii.
and im entirely sure Nin will never release a metroid trilogy set :(

Chibi is one of only 3 GC games that I actually still own, and one that I've always meant to go back and finish but never have. Some day, my little friend.
That said, I don't really see the point of adding motion controls to that title.

As apparently the only person who played any games on the GameCube, I don't like this "New Play Control" trend one bit.
LostOverThere @ Apr 18th 2009 8:13AM
Personally I don't mind it at all. I actually missed out on MP2 and will be interested in picking it up for a budget price.
Kaoz @ Apr 17th 2009 10:01PM
I havnt played metroid 1 or 2, (I own 1.. its just in the massive backlog)
That said, I would buy new play control metroid 1 and 2 day 1.
Foetoid @ Apr 19th 2009 1:33AM
You should immediatly move Prime 1 to the front of your backlog. It's better than you could possibly imagine, hence the game sitting in the top 10 games of all time on gamerankings.
Atlantis1982 @ Apr 18th 2009 3:14AM
Thats more like it. MP2 for Wii, yes indeed. :D
Nook @ Apr 18th 2009 11:03AM
I do believe Echoes is my favorite game of all time - I am so looking forward to this coming home, where it belongs. There'll be a big ol pile of flapjacks waiting Samus, just the way you like them.
Aero @ Apr 20th 2009 3:11AM
I hope they bring out Chibi-Robo here, that game really deserved to sell more.
bsab @ Apr 20th 2009 2:54PM
Chibi-Robo is waaaayy better than any Metroid game!
Matt @ Apr 20th 2009 2:52PM
Wow, talk about misleading title. Ideas suddenly rushed into my head about how awesome a DS remake of Metroid 2 would be with added stylus controls. Oh well. :(
Levi @ Apr 20th 2009 6:31PM
the US release date for the new play control Metroid Prime is the only reason I click the Nintendo tab at the top. It is one of the two titles I've been anticipating for eons. I wanna try it out meow!
