Three new colors for DSi in Japan

Haters of the North American blue version will now be able to direct their ire toward these garish new colors, out of our reach though they may be. Fans of the blue may find themselves envious of these even more vivid colors. We're sorting out some rather complex emotions ourselves.

They get white, plus a better shade of blue? And they got the system like 6 months earlier? I know they're a Japanese company, but so is Sony, and they don't play favorites. Whatever, though. I'm just happy the DSi is coming out in America at all.
Li @ Mar 6th 2009 7:07AM
It's not playing favourites, it's trying to stay on top. DS sales in Japan stagnated so they had to introduce the DSi. If Americans would slow up on buying DSs a bit, you'd see the DSi there in a flash.

It's the GameBoy Pocket all over again!
Except not... 8[
And that had like 8 colors from the start.

I'm cool with the US blue... but that one is much better. Sucks that DSi are region coded...
megapenguinx @ Feb 25th 2009 4:53AM
only the store is. The unit itself isn't for games.

"only the store is. The unit itself isn't for games."
Might as well be the whole thing than. The only good reason for buying a DSi is the new store.
Josh @ Feb 25th 2009 1:08PM
Retail DS/Lite games that take advantage of DSi features, and DSi-only retail games will also be region locked.
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Feb 25th 2009 1:13PM
There haven't been any announced DSi-enhanced/DSi-only retail games, though. So, that's a non-issue.
megapenguinx @ Feb 25th 2009 4:53AM
I want a green one!!
Well not that shade maybe darker.
Mindy @ Feb 25th 2009 5:42AM
Actually Sony does play favorites

More paralysing news. I'll be over in Japan during April. I'm very tempted to give in to a DSi.
My Japanese is pretty good but maybe not up to the store games. I'm constantly worried that if I get a DSi from any region then a killer app (Like Skype or some such) will come out in one of the others.
Josh @ Feb 25th 2009 1:09PM
Erm, the DSi is being released outside of Japan in April as well.
James @ Feb 25th 2009 1:16PM
but not in such nice colours. Also, depending on the way the currency is about to shift, it might be cheaper in Japan.
The point is, it's just as easy for me to get a Japanese system as it is for me to get a european one. The only deciding factor is what's on the service. As we've all seen on the Wii, sometimes Japan gets the advantage there. Also, that lime green looks nice.
Monodi @ Feb 25th 2009 7:50AM
give me an Atomic Purple DSi and we are talking. Seriously it has been like 10 years since that color released.
EXTREME Seph @ Feb 25th 2009 9:11AM
Shameless plug??
Jayayess1190 @ Feb 25th 2009 6:30PM
Wil the US ever get an Enamel Navy DS?
randomflashbang @ Feb 26th 2009 3:00AM

lowryder 2 @ Feb 26th 2009 8:40AM
if they released one with a cannabis leaf on it i might be interested!!!!!
PX @ Feb 26th 2009 8:02PM
awwwww. i like this blue better. hopefully that blue would be in the U.S. later. please?
Selidor @ Feb 27th 2009 3:57AM
The blue looks really nice - I always liked the Enamel Navy Lite as well, and was disappointed it was never released in Europe. I might pick this up when I'm in Japan later this year. I'll only be able to use the store for the ten months that I'm over there, but if I get a DSi when they're released in Europe, I won't be able to use the store in Japan either, so there are disadvantages whatever I choose.
arriane @ Mar 1st 2009 4:52AM
LOL.. I really like the lime green.. sheesh how I wish I would like get them right nowwww.
arghhhsss
