Nintendo building new R&D center (not a Death Star)
It's a simple truth: Nintendo makes money. What goes up must also come down, so it's only fitting that the company would dedicate some of its vast funds to researching and developing new ways make money. That's where the company's new R&D office comes in.
Situated in the Minami-ku district of Kyoto, this new plot of land secured by Nintendo is 40,000 square feet and a $138 million labor of love. With the building rights secured last year, Nintendo has not divulged any info as to when it plans to complete this new research center, nor when it'll start cloning Miyamoto there.

To be honest, Nintendo seems to understand that games should be fun more than anything else. I can only see good things coming from a large fortress designed to come up with new fun things.
.....Oh God, I sound like such a Nintendo fanboy. *shudder*
And if it means that Nintendo will STOP RELEASING GOD DAMNED MARIO AND ZELDA GAMES then I'm all for it. Not that Mario and zelda aren't awesome, mind you. It's just been done to death. Let's move on. Introduce a new character. Maybe a South African dog trainer who is constantly having to rescue his mother's hair dresser from evil Itallian public officials? They can call him "RED TAPE CUTTER MAN" or something.

The only problem is nobody would by it............especially Italians...........

Funny picture.
I'd like to see them come up with time travel in that building. And the hyperdrive.
And a Zelda everyone will like (nah, last one's too impossible)

You never know! One second, Iwata could be trying to hang a clock, next minute, he could be inventing the Flux Capacitor!

That picture is epic win. XD

They need to relocate into the Earth's orbit. There they can build their massive planet/competitor destroying mega-fortress in the shape of Mario's fist. It may not be a green laser but the image of Mario's fist hurling giant fireballs towards competitors would just be awesome, not that I'd actually want them to.

Silly David Hinkle — you should've used this picture:

A competitor to the Large Hadron Collider, perhaps?
chibi_wings @ Feb 10th 2009 8:45PM
i love the engrish XD
maybe they'll make virtual reality games (think "."dot series as in .hack), but if they did I would just be even more removed from reality XD

this picture makes no sense
it is like three separate ideas bound by nothing so far as i can tell
atastysammich @ Feb 11th 2009 3:03AM
If I had my way, this new place would be dedicated to nothing but continuing the Game & Watch Gallery games. To hell with the ho-hum Collections (with the exception of the mashup in 2, those games were already on Galleries, even!)
manuel @ Feb 11th 2009 8:56AM
Will they have work for me there?
I'm good at... researching. I even speak their language. That's a plus, right? And I'd love to live in Kyoto.
Where should I send my resume? :)
aceofclubs23 @ Feb 11th 2009 10:32AM
Why couldn't Nintendo build a Death Star and THEN put their R&D in it?
;)

Here's their first project. If you modified the Wii base a little to accomodate a 120GB 2.5" form factor hard drive and added a short USB dongle that goes from that base to one of the Wii's USB ports ----- what would happen and how could a consumer best benefit from it?
I hereby waive all claims of intellectual property rights, moral rights related to the above project and pass any and all such rights, without limitation, to Nintendo.
