Yesterday's
Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers video left out one important component of the experience:
Reiko, the cloned fighter sent out to capture samples of Aya and Saki's blood. Well, it also left out Misery, but we expect to see her soon. That's right, in case you had forgotten, Tamsoft's super-bloody hack-and-slash has another character who is -- get this -- a
scantily-clad young woman. In
this game? Really?
What a departure! And here she is (after the break) in fenced-off areas slashing a bunch of zombies with a sword. It's like a totally different game.
We might be doing Reiko's outfit a disservice by calling it a catsuit. Catsuits are demure next to her little ensemble, which is basically the front of a vest and a set of skintight chaps, with some fishnet underneath
.
We kind of can't believe that
Onechanbara is really coming out on February 10. We've been talking about this silly game since
September 2007!

Is it just me, or does that look like an awesome PS1 game. Don't get me wrong I like the Wii, I just expect better from this generation of consoles.
8-bit.artist @ Jan 28th 2009 11:26AM
yeah those graphics were ass. this looks to get really repetitive real quick and im not 12 anymore so the polygon boobs isnt going to hold my pre pubescent attention.

Top-notch visuals Oneechanbara is NOT known for.
It's a budget title series in Japan. These games are CHEAP to produce and appropriately priced. It's cheap, shallow thrills here, folks.
But, hey, if B-movie (maybe even C-movie...) cheap thrills are your kinda thing... then you may find the game enjoyable.
But if you're looking for something visually stunning with deep gameplay... You're looking at the wrong game (whether it's for PS2, Wii, or 360).

What, am I the only person who's actually looking forward to this? Judging from past posts about this game, then yeah I am.

So this is the future of DS Fanboy?
How many DS articles have there been in the last 24 hours? By my count, I see one. I could be wrong, it is rather hard to tell with all this Wii mediocrity in the way. Breaking up the DS community for the sake of bastardsized convergence is incredibly short sighted. So you save a few bucks, but is it really worth it to lose a substantial part of your DS readership?
I hope these are just growing pains and there will be the usual 4-5 DS posts per day again. DS Fanboy was such a great site. Even when Candace left it, though diminshed, it still held on strong. But with Alisha gone...I don't know.
Finally, could you stop posting about this crappy game. It's a terrible series, everyone knows that. The exposure given doesn't warrant the product on show.
Rocketboy @ Jan 28th 2009 10:50AM
Thanks for being the number one example of why the merger stinks. Not only do you make a valid point ("Breaking up the DS community..."), but you are also the reason that it doesn't work. You see, us Wii Fanboy fans could read about cool games without non Wii fans making comments like "all this Wii mediocrity", or " stop posting about this crappy game. It's a terrible series, everyone knows that". We didn't have your types around on Wii Fanboy, which made it a better user experience. Now, we've started going to Endgaget level discourse.

If it's really that big of a problem for you, then maybe the Joystiq [Nintendo] people could use a DS tag/category for DS posts and a Wii tag/category for Wii posts, so people who only want one or the other can filter the unwanted posts out using those tags/categories.
Also, why is the image in this blog post pixelized?
Josh @ Jan 28th 2009 11:53AM
Nevermind, looks like they already did it.
Look up top by the "Nintendo" tab.
Feba @ Jan 28th 2009 10:47AM
My excitement about this game has gone over a bell curve.
SegaPleaseMakePanzerDragoonWii! @ Jan 28th 2009 11:20AM
Screw the haters. Yes the graphics look fugly. But this looks like campy and gory hack n slash fun. The fighting looks well implemented. Color me stoked.
PS- Glad to see those Wii/DS tabs up top on the new site, and that, after clicking on one, it can be saved as a favorite in your web browser. Goodbye useless DS news! Kudos on the fast response guys!
Josh @ Jan 28th 2009 11:55AM
Ah, it seems it only goes back a couple of days or so, though.
Wii Fanboy or DS Fanboy posts older than that seem to not be separated by the "Wii" or "DS" tabs.
Mr Khan @ Jan 28th 2009 1:36PM
You're the first Wii fanboy that i saw complain about it, mostly it's been the DS fanboys bitching
SegaPleaseMakePanzerDragoonWii! @ Jan 28th 2009 2:39PM
What can I say, Mr. Kahn. I'm a huge Wiifanboy fan who doesn't own a DS and is prone to over the top knee-jerk reactions. They've listened, created solutions ultra fast and have taken all the bitching in stride. I've moved on from being angry to being impressed.
Josh @ Jan 28th 2009 10:43PM
It seems the Wii and DS tabs extend all the way back in the annals of the previous Fanboy sites now. Like, they fixed it.
Cool.
Josh @ Jan 28th 2009 10:47PM
Wait, no they don't. Not yet at least.
They only go back a few days in PlayStation land, too, though...
yanya @ Jan 28th 2009 11:47AM
I don't know if this is just me, but I watch this video on GT, and the box it appears in is one size... I watch it here, and the box is like, two?... three times as big?
Josh @ Jan 28th 2009 10:44PM
Yes, it's bigger here. Same resolution, just upscaled.
ZombiePikmin @ Jan 28th 2009 10:26PM
There's a surprisingly low ammount of boobies in that picture for it too be censored. . Anyway i have to go reserve $30 worth of games and this is one of em'. Damn this game looks fun.
