Lucasarts whips up Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings
Wow. So, we might have to lie down for a bit. This teaser trailer for Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings has appeared online to bring a chink of light to our usually miserable Fridays. We are strongly resisting the urge to cartwheel like loons, or to joyously mash our keyboaHJFRAUHIW4RFUIH. Thanks, LucasArts!
Even though this CG teaser shows nothing in terms of actual gameplay, if the finished product can match this for variety, we should have a winner. It'll be on Wii and DS this spring.

Wait...this is exclusive? WOO!!!
camera_stooge @ Jan 23rd 2009 9:32PM
I thought the new Indiana Jones project had been cancelled?!? This is good news, indeed!
Andy @ Jan 23rd 2009 9:52PM
I believe that the response was to the effect of, "No comment at this time," but it had been so long since any news of it surfaced that it might as well have been canceled.
While the trailer looks good, I'm going to have to wait and see abou this one. LucasArts's trackrecord hasn't exactly been spotless as of late, unfortunately. Hopefully I'm wrong, though.
intro94 @ Jan 23rd 2009 9:57PM
well the word playstation appears down there too, so i just hope this time lucas arts doesnt gives wii users a watered down version with wii motion controls as they usually do.Other than that, good news.
Highlar @ Jan 23rd 2009 11:06PM
True, there's a little Playstation thing on the end page, but I'm encouraged by the "Adventure continues on Wii!" message, with Playstation added small. Makes me think that its more a PS2 port of a Wii game, than for PS3. I, for one, am quite excited about this! I'm a huge Indy fan, and seeing this come out of nowhere and with such a close release time frame (spring really isn't that far off) I'm pretty psyched. Can't wait to see more of this beauty. :-)
brbarnhart @ Jan 23rd 2009 11:24PM
psp fanboy is saying that the playstation trademark is because it is going to be a psp game as well as a wii/ds.
Highlar @ Jan 24th 2009 12:33AM
Sounds great to me. That means that perhaps the PSP/DS versions are based off of each other, and the Wii version could be a ground-up developed Indiana Jones game for the Wii. I like!!
PSIJunkie @ Jan 24th 2009 2:16AM
If you'll excuse me, I'll be skipping in joy, high-fiving everybody I come across. I've been waiting for this game for years!
wutdaheckman @ Jan 24th 2009 3:27AM
pardon me for being rude -
this looks like shite and for those hopefuls excuse me for being 1 of the millions that won't purchase this.
sorry lucas you lost me at indiana jones 4.
meist3r @ Jan 24th 2009 6:33AM
You're not rude, you're just a troll.
Indy 4 sucked. This isn't Indy 4: The Game so why not give Lucas some credit for at least trying to make something else?
You're excused for being one that doesn't buy it. The millions that will don't care anyway.
Highlar @ Jan 24th 2009 10:46AM
I guess I'm just one of the bizarro people out there, because I didn't find Indy 4 to be all that bad. lol... Sure, its no Raiders of the Lost Ark, but NONE of them were better than the first one. I think the movie (Indy 4) was still a decent adventure film, if they did try to push some things too heavily in the movie.
meist3r @ Jan 24th 2009 6:31AM
This is not ingame graphics? Is it? Looks almost like an early 360 game to me. If the gameplay is just half as entertaining as these clips then I'm interested. The character really looks like Indy.
dronesensor @ Jan 25th 2009 4:11AM
if that looks like an early 360 game to you, then you need new eyes.
meist3r @ Jan 25th 2009 9:28AM
Since (from what I've read) this is actually 360 or PS3 footage from an earlier non-exclusive development stage, I guess you could lend me yours then.
Azsro @ Jan 24th 2009 9:38AM
How knows? Maybe it turns out to be a good game!
Maybe!
Or maybe it could be just an PSP game, ported to the wii, marketed as "the adventure continues on the Wii" just to cash in the wii tidal wave.
Blue Gamer @ Jan 24th 2009 9:44AM
yea it does look good I can't wait!!! 2 bad Harrison Ford isn't doing the voice... that would make it 10x better.
JD @ Jan 24th 2009 11:12AM
CG trailer=graphics so crappy we didn't want to embarrass ourselves and put actual gameplay in the trailer.
time @ Jan 24th 2009 11:44AM
Oh great... It's gonna be on PS2 also. Don't expect it to look good (unless they have separate teams working on it... please do...)
Exel @ Jan 24th 2009 12:06PM
I wouldn't call this exclusive, this is the 'other' game next to the nextgen version that is being worked on. I wish they could bring that one to the Wii. You know this is just a cheap game to sell aswell. They can do it because their reputation remains high because of the quality game on the PS3 and 360.
SegaPleaseMakePanzerDragoonWii! @ Jan 24th 2009 1:41PM
Anyone else play the Indy game for Xbox? That game was one of my favorite games ever released on that system. The story was original, and the voice acting was well done with Indy actually sounding like Indy. Swinging with the whip was awesome and the game just plain kicked ass. If this one's half that game it'll still be well worth a purchase. I'm suped!
dronesensor @ Jan 25th 2009 4:11AM
that game was great. underappreciated. the combat system and interactive environments were a lot of fun, and it captured the spirit of the indy movies really well.
wiilover @ Jan 24th 2009 10:43PM
It looks kind of cartoony but I could have sworn I heard rumors about this game going to "next gen" consoles
intro94 @ Jan 25th 2009 2:07AM
since ds and psp versions have never been based on each other(example:COD waw, tomb raider, etc), yet wii versions have been psp based(the force unleashed from lucas arts, tenchu 4,etc), its more likely that the wii is the psp version.I wont hope for great visuals then.Nor good voice acting(they couldnt afford harrison ford to do the voice of a character who looks like him...).
Travis Tidmore @ Jan 25th 2009 6:04PM
Is Ford doing the voice thats all I care about.
eddy @ Jan 26th 2009 10:06AM
If it's anything like Indy and the Emperor's Tomb, no thanks. When I saw this article, I was hoping (as slight as the chance may have been) that it would be an adventure game like Fate of Atlantis. Guess I couldn't expect Lucasarts to go backward like that.
Looks pretty, but the likely-gameplay probably isn't going to do it for me.
