Nintendo trademarks plenty of Pokemon terms

Back when Nintendo snagged the trademark for that motion-sensing DS card thingy, Nintendo also nabbed up some trademarks pertaining to its beloved Pokemon franchise, as one GAFfer found. As one might expect, many of the trademarks have to do with colors, so we're not entirely sure what Nintendo has planned. Are they merely covering their bases by snatching up as many trademarks as they can, or are they planning some new Pokemon games? Could they be brand new, or something like Platinum? One thing is certain: Pokemon makes money.

I have once heard that there were several Pokemon games cancelled. One was Pokemon Brown, in which you were a gym leader, another was Pokemon Purple, in which you were a Team Rocket Member, and another was Pokemon Orange, in which you owned a Pokemon Ranch. But that's just a rumor. I think Nintendo is registering these names just to cover up their asses.

Those are just against people "stealing" Pokemon unregistered trademarks.

C'mon, don't ALL be an ass-cover. BRING ON THE VIRTUAL HANDHEL-- Wait, what, "Scarlet" and "Crimson"? Such awkward colors? I mean, Brown, Black, and White are boring-ass, but these are clunkily awkward. And how the HFIL do you write "Scarlet" differently (esp. since I'm envisioning these as typed in a patent)?

Ah well, at least this might see action aginst those obvious fakes I'd seen at some online dealer.

The original trademarks are written in Japanese, so apparently there's more than one kanji for "scarlet" (朱 and 緋 according to the NeoGAF post)

I think Black, White & Gray would be cool. Black could have more dark-type and more evil looking where as white could have more normal and happier. Black & White could have a path set for you where Gray could have a choose your own path type of gameplay.

But this is all wishful thinking.
