Wii Warm Up: Card and board games (without the cleanup)
The news that Uno would be gracing WiiWare came as a pleasant surprise to us. We love card games, board games, and anything of the like, but we're just not big fans of cleaning them up. Or, in some cases, setting them up (looking at you, Axis & Allies). What card/board games would you want to see grace WiiWare? Do you think a WiiWare is due for some Texas Hold 'Em or something?

I'm not terribly inclined to buy a card game, even Uno, but I would consider it if they have online and make use of WiiSpeak.
I suppose I would be most inclined to buy a Poker game, assuming it had the above mentioned features, though.

STRATEGO!
ROb @ Jan 13th 2009 10:24AM
I second Settlers of Catan - that would be sweet
ROb @ Jan 13th 2009 10:24AM
actually, on second though - why the heck hasn't the US seen a good Go game come through? I know they have them on WiiWare - the US plays Go too, Nintendo!
Give it up already!

Yes, games like Texas Hold 'Em should come to WiiWare but only if they use the DS as the controller. Your DS would show the cards you hold and is where you would make bets while the Wii displays the community cards.

Fortress America!

M:tG.
Seriously. I mean we got stiffed anywhere but Japan on our N64 copy of that game. Same with the Dreamcast version. Also, no the PSX, PS2, and Xbox "set in the same world" games do not count.
Polecat @ Jan 13th 2009 11:36AM
I take that back....
Appears, it never was released for the N64.
Jayenkai @ Jan 13th 2009 11:56AM
Scrabble was suggested way back when, for the whole GBA/Gamecube link up thing..
It'd be nice to finally have that for DS/Wii!

CHESS. Please if anyone... ANYONE from Nintendo reads this please please please bring CHESS to the Wii. I am considering trading my Wii for 360 just because there is no online chess.
Many many Thanks

thx captain obvious! obviously u have never played chess on wii. we, chess player, need a fast and easy to navigate ui. what is offered online through opera does not suffice.
Andi1980 @ Jan 13th 2009 1:09PM
Twilight Imperium
Tide of Iron
Arkham Horror
Starcraft the Boardgame
Conquest of Heroes Russia41-43
Combat Commander Europe
Formula D
Hive
...well i could easily name 50 more Games which would be great Boardgames for WiiWare
Thankfully there are some BG for XBoxlive Arcarde but i really wanna play them with Wii Controls
Suichimo @ Jan 13th 2009 1:23PM
Give us MTG and D&D 4.0, maybe even 3.5, and I'll be happy.
Stephen @ Jan 13th 2009 2:12PM
It would only be worth it if I could knock over the virtual board and watch all the pieces fly across the screen in a flick of the wii remote...
oh, we already had a wii warm up about that...

Considering Nintendo's history, a Hanafuda game seems appropriate. And considering the relative simplicity (of the card games, at least) and the fact that I already own physical versions of most if not all of the games I would be interested in, the game would have to either be very inexpensive or feature multiple games in one for me to buy it. And, like others have mentioned, online play is a must for any of these games to be worthwhile.
Come to think of it, I basically just want the DS game Clubhouse Games to be released on WiiWare.

It'd be cool if Day's of Wonder would create an online Ticket to Ride as Wii Ware
Robby @ Jan 14th 2009 9:28AM
My picks would have to be: Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, and Carcassone.
