Rock Band 2 music store up (and down)!
If you've got Rock Band 2, go get it and put it in your Wii! Or, rather, load up some Wii Points and then do that! A bunch of Rock Band forumites discovered that DLC is available today, and Harmonix has just made the announcement! As of now, Harmonix says that 50 songs are available on the store, including the 20 promised free tracks -- although one user reports a list of 62 songs. According to the announcement, "In the coming weeks and months we will be adding more songs from the back catalog to catch Wii users up with other systems". The tracks that aren't free cost 200 points each. Check after the break for the official list of 50 available tracks. Or just go download stuff. But be warned, you'll probably face some annoying errors and disconnections -- and even freezing systems, according to the forum -- due to the rush of downloaders.

Matisyahu Serious @ Jan 13th 2009 5:50PM
you said a mouthful there, partner.
urbanryoga @ Jan 13th 2009 5:37PM
finally... sadly what i really want is the portal song.... i doubt that will even be brought over.
Kwad @ Jan 13th 2009 5:38PM
yeah, I'm psyched the store is finally up but a little bummed that the majority are songs I have on the track packs. Oh well, I don't really have any money for this now anyway, and since they got most of the track pack songs out of the way the first week most everything should be newish from here on out.

My wii is in California getting fixed. :(
Matt @ Jan 16th 2009 9:38AM
That's awesome. A few of my favorite bands on day one!
More than a feeling is a classic, Working Man, while not Rush's best work, is still a great song, and ...And Justice For All is my favorite Metallica song!
I am psyched.
Rokr @ Jan 20th 2009 7:52PM
20 Free songs that no one has ever heard of. That is just great. Spending points for sure now.
Kai Cherry @ Jan 13th 2009 8:06PM
Too bad the majority of it is Alterna-Teen utter freakin' garbage.
Ugh.
matt @ Jan 14th 2009 2:39AM
You can't play the track pack songs online. I don't know why people even bought them knowing that a full-featured Rock Band 2 was coming out.
Oh well. I'm stoked about this. I just wanted to add some enthusiasm to the sea of apathy shown by these comments.
johnb @ Jan 14th 2009 10:45AM
How do you get the free tracks? I only see the 'for sale' songs online.
megapenguinx @ Jan 14th 2009 12:16PM
They are the ones that cost 0 wii points.
Look for the price on the right
megapenguinx @ Jan 14th 2009 12:18PM
I downloaded 4 of the free songs and now only have 90 blocks left (Well I do have a few VC and Wii Ware Games). Le sigh, had to order a 2gb SD card from Amazon. Just wish we could go the PS3 route and use any harddrive to upgrade our memory
Nik @ Jan 14th 2009 1:35PM
How much space do tracks take up?
megapenguinx @ Jan 14th 2009 1:45PM
about 100 blocks per, so it's not too bad
ZaxCG2 @ Jan 28th 2009 12:18PM
Yeah- its at this point you realize how measley the Wii's internal memory is. Thank goodness you can play songs off of SD cards or I'd be pretty ticked at Nintendo.
Now can we playz VC/WiiWarez off of it soon Nintendo?
megapenguinx @ Jan 28th 2009 1:07PM
You should be able to by the time the DSi is out apparently.
q00ber @ Jan 14th 2009 4:04PM
So, how does the code on the back of the instruction manual fit in with the free downloads?
EricC @ Jan 14th 2009 8:52PM
There is no code on the back of the instruction manual. The code was to differentiate between RB1 and RB2 owners so that you had to buy RB2 to get the 20 free tracks. Since RB1 for the Wii had no DLC, no code is necessary. Wii + DLC = RB2.
afisko @ Jan 14th 2009 5:18PM
downloading songs on an SD card doesnt take up a lot of space if have the 2gig mem stick. i had about 14500 blocks before downloading and now im down to about 11000 blocks after getting 23 songs from the store. so u guys should invest in a 2GB stick. only costs about 15-20 bucks everywhere, but 8 at Virgin record store where i got mine.

Paul @ Jan 16th 2009 2:49PM
How come when I put the DLC on the SD card they won't show up in my playlist? Please help
KIMP @ Jan 17th 2009 1:35PM
Couple of tracks I need there:
Blink-182 -- All the Small Things
Blondie -- Call Me
Boston --More Than a Feeling
Paramore -- Crushcrushcrush
Smashing Pumpkins --Zero
I hope they will soon have all of the XBox360 and PS3 catalogue available. I want more Motley Crue and some Megadeth!
