Wii Warm Up: Year to date

We're one-third of the way into the first month of a new year! Hooray! Okay, that's not much time, really. But was it time enough for you to buy a game? If so, did you use a gift card or other credit, or drop your own cold, hard cash? This time right after the holidays can be a major boom or bust, depending on all sorts of circumstances!Of course, if you got something, we want to know what it was, too.

Nothing for me, I'm still playing through my Christmas games (Rune Factory 2, Wario Land, etc)

I got too many games for Christmas to need to buy a new game.
But now that I think about it, I did buy Kirby's Dream Land 3 on the Virtual Console.

I almost bought mario kart wii, but I wanted to give it some thought. Is it anything like the DS version?

yes it is
the only differences are that there's no R.O.B. and the battle mode can now only be played in teams
also there are 12 drivers per race instead of 8
and there are more characters, more items,...
I think it's a must buy

And the controls are pretty good if you like the Wii-wheel.
...and the number of courses is astounding.
And it IS THE BEST Wii online game to date.
Fun to play people around the world - can't say the same thing exactly for the DS version.

Best online game is up for toss, I think Rock Band 2 has some amazing online, I can almost instantly find 4 people to play with for any of the band play modes, but MKW does have fun 12 player races with no lag. It sure kicked Brawls ass in online thats for sure.

Still on World of Goo and Sonic Chronicles. World of Goo tapped out my internal Wii memory, so there's nothing i can really pick up until the storage solution arrives, and my next Wii retail title won't be until MadWorld

as for what i'm looking forward to:
deadly creatures, HotD:Overkill, Little Kings story, Madworld.
( though i'm worried madworld will be this years no more heroes)

Im still going throught Bully: Scholarship edition and de blob which i got for x-mas... good games so far!
i did get some giftcards though so i dont know what others games to get or just save it for upcoming games...
or buy some other stuff!!

I used an Amazon gift card to get Chrono Trigger for the DS.. looking forward to some great Wii games this year.. though I hope they aren't coming this month.. cant spend much this month anymore :P

I received "WarioWare: Smooth Moves" as a Christmas gift, and I picked up "Boom Blox", "WSC Real 08", and "Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz" last week.
"Boom Blox" is my favorite of the bunch by far, followed by "WSC Real 08" (an incredibly deep and realistic (and fun!) pool and snooker game (that comes with a very cool wii cue stick), then WW:SM (what wacky fun! I hope the next version of WW features balance board support!), and last, but still a decent little game, is SMB:BB.

I am terrible, I bought Chrono Trigger, MegaMan &Bass before Christmas and Moon, Wario Land: Shake It after Christmas.
I bought Moon& WL:SI because: A. I wanted them, B. because my family swore not to buy me SINGLE game for me for Xmas. ;)
I did get 2000 Wii points for Xmas, though.

I got my Wii for Giftmas with a couple of games, so I haven't really needed to buy a new one. I bought a LAN adapter, though, and am seriously looking into the Wii Speak.

Is NEW PLAY CONTROL! (sorry, I had to) Pikmin any good? What additions over the original?
Might buy it when it hits PAL reigons, hopefully before the sun collapses.

I went grocery shopping yesterday to HEB and when I passed next to the video games stand i noticed a gamecube game. It was Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. It had a $400 ($30) price tag, but last time I I bought a gamecube game there back in december (eternal darkness) it was only $115 ($8.50).
So I took the hulk game to the price checker and it turned out it was $84 ($6) so I bought it right away :)
I don't know when I'll have time to play it, but I doubt I'd find a brand new copy so cheap elsewhere.
