Super Punch-Out!! and rare Ogre Battle rated by ESRB

That copy of Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen you stashed under the mattress to partly fund your early retirement just got a whole lot less valuable. The ESRB has rated the rare Enix RPG for a Virtual Console release, along with another, more widely known SNES gem: Super Punch-Out!!. Is Nintendo planning to release the classic pugilist title alongside its modern Wii equivalent, as it did in the case of Super Metroid and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption? Perhaps!

Those aren't the only surprises in the latest ESRB ratings: Lonpos, a launch title for the Japanese WiiWare service no less, has also been classified. As it's been a while, here's a reminder of what it looks like:

Is it wrong that my first thought upon seeing Super Punch-Out was that it needed a WiiWare port with online leaderboards?

My 6.7 seconds on Piston Hurricane needs more love.

Ogre Battle Saga = Most underappreciated series ever!

I may finally buy a VC game after a year long hiatus, hopefully it won't take too long to release here.

Totally, man. Ogre Battle 64 is one of my all time favorite games. It's just a shame that there won't be any more.

What (if any) is the relationship between Ogre Battle for the SNES and Tactic Ogre that appeared on the GBA? I seem to remember that Tactics Ogre was a remake of Ogre Battle. It is is, then it is a shame (for me) because I really enjoyed Tactics Ogre and would greatly appreciate another chapter to play.

Tactics Ogre on the GBA is er... a different game, really.
I actually prefer the one on the Playstation more.

Though the original was released in Japan in 1995 on the Super Famicom, then re-released Sega Saturn in 1996, then the Playstation in 1997.
The one on the GBA is a whole 'nother game. Different storyline and characters and such.
...not to mention the horrible mistakes they've made on the text-dialogue. :P

...Ogre Battle's very different as well. In fact, Ogre Battle 64's very different from the two as well!

Think of Ogre Battle as old-school Fire Emblem. Think of Tactics Ogre as a less-beautiful, but more TACTICAL Final Fantasy Tactics. And think of Ogre Battle 64 as a Kessen meets Suikoden.

Well, at least, that's how I see them.

OMFG!!! OGRE BATTLE!!! Please release it on the US VC... I knew we'd get Super Punch Out! eventually... but Ogre Battle is great news! I doubt Tactics Ogre will ever be made VC (only the PS1 and Saturn ports were localized), but hopefully we'll eventually get Ogre Battle 64 as well - which is the best SRPG ever!

Rating the VC games under the ESRB has been proved nothing but useless. Don't get me wrong, I've gotten many VC games that are awesome. But let's be honest. Let's take a look at Earthbound for instance; that game's been under the ESRB for more than a year and has never seen the light of day since. But on another note, it's about dang time they put Ogre Battle up for release!
