CES 2009: No Rock Band 3 this year
Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos has revealed that the developer won't be releasing a third Rock Band game in 2009, Lego or otherwise. Speaking at a CES conference, Rigopulos said Harmonix has deliberately opted to "break out of the annual release cycle," as sticking rigidly to such a schedule "places limits on the choices you can make as a developer."Though he didn't mention it, we also suspect the mysterious Beatles game is a factor in Harmonix's decision to put Rock Band 3 on ice. If Activision can follow this example and resist releasing a new Guitar Hero game this calendar year, 2009 could be those rarest of things: a year where we don't end up having to buy another bunch of plastic instruments. Our closets are already sighing with relief at the thought.

Whatever. Still waiting on that DLC. Hope we see it before RB3.

I do too, but as quiet as HMX is being and given the way they completely screwed up getting the game out on time, I just don't have any confidence that it will be.
The game software itself is really fantastic, far better than GHWT, but they made some huge errors in all the behind the scenes stuff for the Wii release.

Well technically the smart thing to do is to only have 4 instruments: guitar, lamer guitar (for bass) a drum kit and a mic then your set. My bass is currently an aerosmith Gibson, my main guitar is the world tour beauty, the world tour drum kit (with enhanced sensitivity thanks to the drum repair kit) and a standard GH mic. I might purchase rock band two, after harmonix gets of their lazy no-rock-band-3-this-year-talking asses and presses the button to send the DLC to our Wiis. but no, activision is not gonna rest yet. Unlike harmonix who is pospining a game of the first rock band ever, with super easy songs and god-knows-how-they-will-do-this ideas, activision has metallica makin a game, that will have challenging songs. Fun fun.
Although maybe Harmonix will make beatles like some sort of adventure music game, race to the concert then play the simple song. Unless they do that, I don't know how it will turn out....

In my opinion, I'm pretty sure Activision worked their ass off to make GH:WT, pretty much breaking the "Law" being "Guitar Hero". So the problem Activision have now is that they have to think about whether they go for "Guitar Hero" (with all the instruments) or just for the "Guitar".
Will they come up with like, "Drum Hero", "Base Hero", or "singing-something HEro" ?? I don't know.
but the thing is, Users are getting all the benefits out of war btw HMX and Activision (regardless of all the problems with Wii version)

Well they did have plans for a Drum Hero, until they thought
"Hey looks like Rock Band is doin great, let's just go for that"
I've also heard of a Keyboard hero, but we've already got Frets on Fire. And lastly but not least, the name Guitar Villain surfaced on a patent Activision made, but will it follow through or will it end up like Drum Hero, OR will it blend, who know

Guitar Villian, Drum Hero, all those copyrights were made soley to protect their name.
If you made gutiar hero, and some rival made Drum Hero, they would get more sales. Not only that, but if Drum Hero was terrible, it would cause bad opinion for the general public.
