We concur: Edge's most promising Wii games of 2009
We don't usually post about the various end-of-year lists that appear on other sites (we much prefer composing our own), but Edge's "ten most promising Wii titles of 2009" chart was so close to our own 2009 wishlist that we felt it warranted a nod.
Understandably, only super-confirmed 2009 releases are included, so this selection may change over time (if, say, a Fragile localization is announced, or No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle makes this year, or -- LOL -- we get a new Pilotwings), but so far we think this is spot-on. Check out which ten titles made the list after the break, and take note of the strong third-party showing!

that list put a smile on my face, for sure
Muffonious @ Jan 5th 2009 5:18PM
Wooh! Deadly Creaturesm, Madworld, and the Conduit! :D
Plus, we also got Wii Sports, Punch-Out! and a few games I've never heard of and will probably end up trying out.

Did... did you just write "LOL" in an article?
Chris Greenhough @ Jan 5th 2009 6:22PM
Yes. Yes, I did.

Gasps! *points finger at profanity*

What about Ghostbusters?
Russ Carroll @ Jan 5th 2009 5:47PM
Deadly Creatures over Ghostbusters is a fail, but it's good to see The Demon Blade on the list. I believe most of those games will be out before Q3, which means the back half of the year could be interesting or a let-down.
I'm intrigued by the Little King and Rune Frontier as well.
Shadow31 @ Jan 5th 2009 11:57PM
You kidding? Deadly Creatures looks pretty sweet in a quirky sort of way. Well, to all their own...

I compiled a list today, all with games that we know exist (though one is the Factor 5 project, whose release is speculative at this point)
MadWorld, Sonic Black Knight, Wii Sports Resort, The Conduit, Punch-Out!!, Play on Wii Pikmin, Sin & Punishment 2, TMNT, Factor 5 Project, and Pikmin 3
Aaron @ Jan 5th 2009 6:37PM
Yeah I like your list better. Bonus points for remembering the upcoming TMNT Brawler. I bet that's going to be a sleeper hit.
Jordan @ Jan 5th 2009 7:45PM
Thirded. A TMNT four-player brawler developed by members of Team Ninja and the Smash Bros. team? I see very few ways that this could go wrong.

I hope Fatal Frame is good. It didn't do that well in Japan :-/
ramuji @ Jan 5th 2009 8:51PM
Fatal Frame is excellent. Finished it once, and now it is on loan to a friend. Playing it again when it comes back.

Seeing them all together is kind of encouraging. Especially after watching the Trace Memory sequel video. I, for one, plan on playing my Wii a lot next year, regardless of how much dust accumulates on top of it. I just don't dust much, is what I'm saying.

I'm pretty sure that MH3 and FF4 are not confirmed for North America.
There are others to add that are confirmed:
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time
Tenchu 4
Arc Rise Fantasia
Overlord: Dark Legend
I think the two unconfirmed I'm most anxious to hear about (in addition to MH3) are Ougon no Kizuna and Fragile. If those come out this and are as good as they have the potential to be, this could be a breakout year for the Wii and the up-market gamers.

Mura-freaking-masa! I hope that this game is absolute awesome on a disk.
Sisyphus @ Jan 6th 2009 11:23AM
Little King's Story, Animales de la Muerte, and Ghostbusters are also on my list of extreme interest, as well as some from this list.
