New Play Video: Pikmin
We're way into the New Play Control version of Pikmin. Even eight years after its original release, Pikmin remains one of the fresher and more unusual Nintendo franchise games, and the Wii version only improves on it!
In this video, Wii Folder's Josh Thomas (standing in front of the screen like a weatherman) introduces the game in a manner appropriate for people who have no idea what Pikmin is. While that means a lot of explanation of stuff you know, it also means a ton of game footage (worth seeing even with a dude in front of it), and all the new Wii content is highlighted.
While you're watching previews of Wii remakes on Wii Folder, check out the Klonoa footage!

Is that widescreen I see? If so, sweet! That was gonna be the REAL seller for me.
Can anyone confirm if Pikmin 2 will come out in US?
M @ Jan 5th 2009 4:44PM
I don't know about you, but all my GameCube games play in widescreen for me.
Covarr @ Jan 5th 2009 6:57PM
More likely, they play in fullscreen and your TV stretches them to widescreen.

I like the WiiFolder reviews.
I've never played Pikmin so this video works well for me.

I liked the GC version well enough, but I gave up on it after about seven days. The controls seriously hampered gameplay because they were so slow and restrictive.
These controls, along with the ability to go back and redo days, should make a HUGE difference, so I will definitely get it. I just hope they do Pikmin 2 like this as well, because I never played that one.

Right behind the original Zelda and Metroid games, this is one of my all time favorite games. I cannot wait for this, and the new one to release on Wii.
JD @ Jan 5th 2009 7:30PM
I second what PJH said; Pikmin is an amazing game. I can't wait to get this game. Hopefully its only like $25. I really hope this isn't the Pikmin game Miyamoto(sp?) said was coming to the Wii because I want a Pikmin 3!!!
Shadow31 @ Jan 5th 2009 11:55PM
Miyamoto confirmed this is not Pikmin 3. But don't expect Pikmin 3 to come out anytime soon. It seems like it will be less of a cheap sequel as Pikmin 2 (which improved on a lot, but did feel thrown together a bit). Anyway, I'd expect this as $20 to $30 most likely, though I might pay as high as $40 (no more).
By the way, what Pikmin 3 needs?
-Full co-op for story mode.
-Sandbox mode. (Free play without restrictions)
-A mid 2009 release date.
That's all I can think of.

Rereleasing some old GC stuff for the Wii? But that is nothing new. Adding Wii features was already done for Zelda. I would have prefered a entire new Version of Pikmin or perhaps Chibi Robo

is it just me, or does that guy talk out of the side of his face?
