DS Daily: Too easy!
Since we like to do things in pairs, we wanted to ask the opposite of yesterday's question: what games have been just too easy? We want to know about all the puzzles you yawned through and the platformers you put aside. Or ... do you put aside easy games? If there's a difficulty setting, what do you usually choose?

New Super Mario Bros., way too easy. Also, Mario Kart DS. Beat that in half a day.
BlackDS @ Jan 2nd 2009 10:56AM
Did you beat all the staff ghosts too???
Doubtful in only 1/2 day.
Vincent @ Jan 2nd 2009 2:25PM
Yes, New Super Mario Bros. was disappointingly simple. If I dare try to play any old Mario games (don't even mention the original one) I would get my @$$ kicked, but the DS one...I think I ended with like 40 some extra lives.
chispito @ Jan 2nd 2009 1:04PM
I must not be the kart pro that you are, because I still haven't beaten Mario Kart DS (at least not if by "beat" you mean clear all cups).
And I much prefer the difficulty settig of NSMB. Most people will probably have a fairly easy time beating it, but completing it will take a lot more dedication entirely.
violent23 @ Jan 2nd 2009 9:38AM
All Kirby games.
Donald @ Jan 2nd 2009 2:50PM
Two words: True Arena.
EXTREME Seph @ Jan 3rd 2009 4:57PM
Agreed with Donald. And try some Dreamland 3. I've died so much in that game I never really felt like playing it again...but I would.
EXTREME Seph @ Jan 2nd 2009 9:36AM
I wouldn't necessarily say Squeak Squad was EASY...it was just too short (6 hours, come on). Kirby Super Star Ultra's original game modes were easy though in comparison with the original Kirby Super Star.
Mr Khan @ Jan 2nd 2009 12:38PM
This. I just want a Kirby game that's jam-packed with content. Difficulty is right where it should be, except for some bosses
Josh @ Jan 2nd 2009 10:02AM
Ninja Gaiden DS. Way easier than the X-Box counterpart.
BlackDS @ Jan 2nd 2009 10:53AM
LOTS of games are easier than the Xbox version of Ninja Gaiden, so what your point???
hijinx @ Jan 2nd 2009 2:39PM
I know what you mean, but personally I'm glad I still have a functional touchscreen... so I don't mind the low difficulty in NG.
Tim @ Jan 2nd 2009 10:37AM
The 1st Luminous Arc, for me anyway.
aj @ Jan 2nd 2009 1:22PM
I thought it was easy too, but then, somehow, I managed to turn my DS off after beating that first double battle against the fire witch and then against the steel witch. I've never, ever, ever been able to win those battles a second time despite winning handily the first time. I have no idea why this is.
I could go level grind, but standing around tossing potions is just so demeaning and un-fun that I'd much rather just not play the game.
TJF588 @ Jan 2nd 2009 10:48AM
Just would like to say, when I was filanderin' around on my firend's got-it-for-RPGs Xbox 360, I found a 'default difficulty setting[s]' option. I feel that more game systems should implement this (along with, as was pointed out in a Metroid: Zero Mission user-review I'd read, a non-unlock of a hard(er) difficulty).
I, myself, will go for the normal one (or, if it's a gameplay system I truly suck at or there are unlocks (in M:ZM's case, just an indication of beaten-it-ness), the easiest one), but I understand that for players truly familiar with both genre mechanics and a series/developer's layout and style, getting into the game knowing it'll try to kick you but would be more enjoyable (and possibly memorable) than just seeing where they put things this time.
Josh @ Jan 2nd 2009 11:03AM
I was expecting something a bit more hardcore when I got NG DS. They did a great job of making an action game stylus only; just a bit easy.
Austin @ Jan 2nd 2009 11:46AM
All kirby games are easy, but that's where i think it gets its charm. If your like me most the time you're either fighting off hordes of enemies or solving head-breaking puzzles. So its quite a relief to know I'm going to win and its not going to take a hundred tries.
I usually pick the normal setting first but then run back on hard.
I'll play any easy game motivated and fun.
Nigeria @ Jan 2nd 2009 11:57AM
It's between Stafi 4 or Drawn to Life.
Both games tried to hide their easy nature though charming visuals, charming sounds, which which eased the ploddingness. Not enough for me to make substantial progress in Stafi, though.
Dante G @ Jan 2nd 2009 12:05PM
I must say the first Phoenix Wright. I bought it this christmas and, after having beaten PW 2, found it much easier than the second one. Still a great and long game.
Jarlino @ Jan 2nd 2009 12:22PM
Super Dodgeball brawlers.
I was very hyped for this one...when I got everything unlocked and played through in a good hour or three.
Very disappointing. T_T
Jacksons @ Jan 2nd 2009 12:31PM
I'd say Mario Kart DS, but it's odd. It didn't really seem all that easy at first, but once you get used to the controls you can race any grand prix with any kart and be way out in front, like you're racing by yourself. I almost wish there was a rubber band AI option, just to keep it at least a little interesting.
Worst level is Tick Tock Clock. You'll be in first not 20 seconds into the first lap and stay there the entire race.
Matt G. @ Jan 2nd 2009 5:05PM
I think you're just a MK god. I couldn't do that.
Roto13 @ Jan 2nd 2009 1:09PM
Apparently I'm horrible at Mario Kart.
Red Confession @ Jan 2nd 2009 1:12PM
Hotel Dusk. Yeah, I got stuck at a few parts, but beat it in under a week (which is really quick for me).
Red Confession @ Jan 2nd 2009 1:13PM
Hotel Dusk. Yeah, I got stuck at a few parts, but I still beat it in under a week, which is quick for me.
Venom @ Jan 2nd 2009 1:18PM
FFTA2. Laws are kinda annoying, but my characters got so strong almost nothing can take them down...
But I usually don't mind games that are too easy, as long as the gameplay is satisfying in other ways.
Adam Dolph @ Jan 2nd 2009 1:56PM
*Kirby Super Star Ultra
*Gunpey DS
*New Super Mario Bros.
*Garfield's Nightmare
*Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword
mechevar21 @ Jan 2nd 2009 2:00PM
New Super Mario Brothers. Too easy to beat and too easy to collect the big coins. Very disappointed in that game
GrungeSpoo @ Jan 2nd 2009 5:24PM
I'd like to add "Ninja Town" to the mix. It's very easy to beat, and it's not too much harder to get perfect scores on the levels. On the plus side it could draw newbies into other tower defense games like "Locks Quest."
BlackDS @ Jan 3rd 2009 1:43AM
I bet all these people saying Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword haven't collected all the tiles.
Just beating Easy & Normal mode is NOT beating the game.
Collecting ALL the wooden tiles is beating the game.
Bowser Rogozhin @ Jan 3rd 2009 8:24AM
"Collecting ALL the wooden tiles is beating the game. "
No it isn't. Beating the final boss is beating the game. Every gamer knows that. Stop trying to rewrite the uncodified rules.
Collecting tiles, or whatever it is is in your favourite game, is just a device to increase replay value. It shouldn't be, and isn't in NGDS' case, necessary to key to achieving the end goal: beating the final boss.
Don't be mad that your favourite game is on the easy side. Makes Hotel Dusk look like Dostoevsky in comparison, though.
BlackDS @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:16PM
Bowser Rogozhin,
If you consider beating the boss in Easy mode as beating the game, then I really feel sorry for you.
I guess "beating" Elite Beat Agents was easy for you. Most of us don't consider beating the final song in EBA on easy mode as beating the game. I guess you must beat alot of games and then don't bother playing the other 80% of the game. LOL.
To me, beating a game is playing it until you have nothing left to play for.
And where do you go comparing Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword to Hotel Dusk???
Tard.
Beat every mode in Ninja Gaiden DS and collect all the tiles, then talk to me about easy.
Otherwise STFU.
Bowser Rogozhin @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:28PM
I've beaten the game on normal, hard and with Momiji. No challenge whatsoever. We're talking Kirby difficulty here. The difference is is that Kirby has charm, while NGDS feels like...a that kid on the special bus. It tries hard, that's all that needs to be said.
Collecting tiles is a waste of time, but if you want to delude yourself that it's a worthwhile pursuit, then go ahead. I'll give you a badge.
BlackDS: Tile Collector. It's that hard to fail, given the difficulty of the game, and all.
Now let me see a smile on that face.
Bowser Rogozhin @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:43PM
"It's that not hard to fail, given the difficulty of the game, and all."
There are other spelling/grammatical mistakes. Fuck it.
Anyway, why so defensive? You've castigated everyone for calling out NGDS for what it is. A rather shallow game. Don't be so mad, it's just an opinion, baby.
Is it Itagaki's coffeeface?
BlackDS @ Jan 3rd 2009 4:41PM
Bowser Rogozhin =tard.
Talk to the hand. :)
Shin @ Jan 3rd 2009 7:38AM
The World Ends With You. Finished the main game in under a month. Didn't get stuck anywhere. Unlocked everything after game in half that time.
Eccentric-Servbot @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:21PM
I have my fair share of games with challange, but I also own a lot of games that are 'easy,' but I rather like them that way. Rather then getting a hard game, beating it once, and then never touch it again, I tend to replay the heck out of some of my easier games. For example, I've lost track of the number of times I've plowed through the first Mario & Luigi, but I still enjoy it every time.
Plus, if I'm waiting a while for a game I want to release, playing through some easier games makes the time pass quicker while still enjoying myself.
monday @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:51PM
Text games are really easy like Phoenix Wright and Time Hollow. I haven't seen a Game Over with those games.
Abscissa @ Jan 3rd 2009 7:20PM
Most modern games are too easy. But a couple of specific DS ones that come to mind are Trace Memory and the first half of Super Princess Peach. Zelda games in general have also been getting too easy.
KingZak @ Jan 3rd 2009 9:29PM
I just beat Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime, and I have to say, it was hands down the easiest game I have ever played in my 21 years of being a gamer.
No joke.
