Wii Fit ... into Wal-Mart's clothing department?
Nintendo, evidently desperate to sell Wii Fit to every person on Earth who owns a television, has started installing Wii Fit ads in the women's clothing department of Wal-Mart stores. Well, actually, all we know is that it looks like they've installed a Wii Fit ad in one Wal-Mart women's clothing department. We just have the one picture, really, with little context. It could just be that one Wal-Mart ran out of space in the electronics department, or that an employee was setting up a display and misread "L'Eggs" as "Wii Fit video advertising kiosk".Regardless of whether this specific initiative is the work of Nintendo or Wal-Mart, there's no doubt in our minds of Nintendo's corporate response to the stereotypical dressing-room question "Do I look fat in this?" Yes, the video says. Stand on this and pretend you have a hula hoop.

Fear this, for it is real! I saw them setting it up at mine yesterday.

My wife saw the same thing at the Wal-Mart across town yesterday...

Hmmm, this could backfire. Such a clear attempt to make women feel bad at a moment when they're already feeling self-conscious about their weight might come across as a slap in the face instead of a friendly suggestion.

They something like this a few month ago at our Wal-Mart with the Rock Band AC/DC Track pack. For some reason, it was right in the middle of the mens shirts. Dunno why it was there.

I noticed that too. I think they were trying to sell AC/DC hats and shirts.

I know this is about Wii fit but its sorta in the same line. Here in panama we have a movie teather crammed with Wii music ads AND a wii music demo booth. Like seriously it was literaly ALL OVER the place. I felt kinda uncomfortable... I'm scared to think what other places might be infested with ads trying to grab the non gamers attention.

Nintendo really wanted Wii Music to do REALLY well.
So they upped their advertising to the max, trying to get people to take notice of it.
:P Trying a little too hard sometimes.

Waay too hard.
Honestly I dont know why they bother. Wii Music is prolly not the best they should be investing on.

I don't think the placements are up to Nintendo, rather it's up to WalMart. That said, I think it's a good spot to showcase the game.
