Retail and download releases for the week of December 29th

Much like last week, this week doesn't have much to offer in the way of retail games. But, all is not lost, for there is several downloadable games to choose from, with two new WiiWare games and one new Virtual Console game available. Head past the break for the full list of gaming content available to Wii owners this week.

Cue Sports isn't particularly amazing, but I recommend it for online play and ... snooker! Plus, it's only 500 points.

So is it better than Wii Play-Pool? I really want to find something that is at least as good from a control standpoint. Wii Play's pool really did nail that. Just needs more variety.

It's been a long time since I played pool (or any game) in Wii Play. I remember not liking the pool in Wii Play, maybe because it offered only 8-ball? Regardless, even if it did have a 9-ball setting that I couldn't find, it certainly didn't have snooker or online play, which are the two things that sold me on Cue Sports.

Also, I should point out that Cue Sports has two control options: one that uses motion with the Wii remote to simulate moving your cue, and another using only button controls. I prefer the button option.

I haven't played Wii Play Pool in a while, but I'm almost 100% sure that it only has 9-ball, not 8-ball.

madhat, you are correct! Hmmm, I can't remember what it is I didn't like about pool in Wii Play. Regardless, I know it doesn't have snooker!

I made the mistake of believing a site that said LIT was coming out today.

I am at the point where I'm not buying games I might otherwise try, all because of the space issue. I don't buy a lot of Wiiware and VC games, but it really doesn't take much. And I'm one of those gamers who plays several games at once, making a little progress on each. Heck, I'm still playing Lost Winds [but I didn't buy it for a long time]. :)
